Biography

A key cog out of the Rutgers-Camden bullpen, southpaw ace Jacob Brennan posted another stellar season for the Scarlet Raptors in 2024, leading the team in ERA (1.96) among all pitchers with over 10 innings. He finished second on the staff with 14 appearances over 23 innings, while earning his first Rutgers-Camden save.
 
Since transferring to Rutgers-Camden from Atlantic Cape Community College, Brennan has appeared in 29 games, posting a 2-1 record, one save and a 2.97 ERA in 63-2/3 innings. He also posted a 1.000 fielding percentage in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Baseball 2024: Served as one of the Scarlet Raptors’ four team captains…Led all Raptor hurlers with more than 10 innings pitched in ERA, posting a 1.96 mark…Held opponents to a .195 batting average…In 14 appearances, pitched 23 innings and logged a 0-1 record and one save…Allowed only 16 hits and eight runs, five of them earned…Struck out 21 and only walked eight…Collected four assists in four chances for a 1.000 fielding percentage…Held lefthanded hitters to a paltry .074 batting average (2-for-27)…Worked 1-2/3 shutout innings in his first appearance of the season, allowing one hit and two walks, while striking out one, in a Rutgers-Camden win over Penn State-Abington (March 1)…Suffered the loss in his lone decision of the year, coming in a 5-3 defeat against Cornell College (March 12) in which he allowed one hit and one earned run, while striking out one, in 2/3 of an inning…Collected his first Raptor save with 2.2 hitless, scoreless innings during an 8-5 victory over Swarthmore (March 26), striking out three batters…Worked two innings, allowing two hits, one walk and two runs (only one earned) against The College of New Jersey (April 5), collecting two strikeouts…Pitched 3-2/3 shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks, while striking out two during the Raptors’ 3-1 loss at Stockton (April 19)…During an April 26 win at Montclair State, allowed one walk and struck out the side in one scoreless inning…Tied his longest outing of 3.2 innings during the Raptors’ 6-4 loss against The College of New Jersey (May 3), allowing two hits and one unearned run, while striking out two…In his 14 appearances, had 10 outings without allowing an earned run, including the final six, covering 10-2/3 innings.
 
Baseball 2023: Appeared in 10 games, making one start…Worked 29 innings and posted a 2.48 ERA and a 2-0 record…Allowed 24 hits and eight earned runs…Walked nine, hit one and struck out 22…Held opponents to a .226 batting average…Held righthanded batters to a .143 average (2-for-14), while lefties hit .293 (22-for-92)…Was especially tough with runners on base, holding opponents to a .190 average (8-for-42)…Hurled shutout ball in seven of his 10 appearances and in seven of his nine relief outings…His lone tough outing was a three-inning start against William Paterson (April 22) when he allowed seven hits, one walk and six earned runs, while striking out three…In his nine relief appearances, he posted a 0.69 ERA…Notched his first win with five innings of two-hit shutout relief ball in a 15-10 victory over Ursinus (March 25, Game One), while striking out four and walking two…Hurled four innings of scoreless relief in the Raptors’ 5-3 loss at Kean (April 1, Game Two), allowing only two hits and striking out two…Allowed three hits and two walks, while fanning two, in 2-1/3 scoreless innings during the Raptors’ 9-8 win at Keystone (April 4)…Had his longest outing of the season and picked up the win in an 8-5 Raptor victory against New Jersey City (April 16, Game Two), working six scoreless innings and allowing two hits and two walks, while notching his season high of five strikeouts.
 
Baseball 2022: Pitched 11.2 innings over five relief appearances…Allowed 11 hits and 11 runs (eight earned), while walking five and hitting two batters…Struck out four…Held opponents to a .244 batting average…Had two assists…Made his Scarlet Raptor debut pitching one-third of an inning against Mitchell (March 14, Game Two), allowing two hits, one walk, one hit batsman and four earned runs…Lowered his ERA in every game after his opening outing…Hurled 1.1 innings against Stockton (April 15), allowing two hits, one walk and two earned runs, while collecting his first Rutgers-Camden strikeout…Hurled 2.1 innings against Rowan (April 22), allowing two hits, one walk, one hit batsman and two unearned runs…Threw three shutout innings against Cabrini (April 26), striking out two and allowing only one single…In his longest outing of the season, worked 4.2 innings against Montclair State (April 30, Game One), allowing four hits, two walks and three runs (two earned), while striking out one.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Earned Second Team All-Region 19 and Second Team All-Garden State Athletic Conference honors in 2021 at Atlantic Cape Community College… Posted a 4-1 record and a 3.60 ERA in 45.0 innings, while walking 15, striking out 39 and hurling two complete games.
 
High School: Earned four varsity baseball letters at St. Joseph High School in Hammonton…Played for Coach Tom Carney…Earned All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2017 and All-Cape-Atlantic League First Team honors in 2018…Helped lead team to a Cape Atlantic League division title…Helped lead team to the Diamond Classic in both 2016 and 2017…Graduated in 2018.
