Biography

Joey Rappaport appeared in 39 games over his three seasons at Rutgers-Camden, including 35 out of the bullpen. He worked 74 innings and posted a career 6.45 ERA while logging a 2-5 record with two saves. He allowed 89 hits and 65 runs (53 earned), while walking 28, hitting 13 and striking out 57.

Baseball 2025: Served as one of the Scarlet Raptors’ four team captains…Finished second on the team with 16 appearances, all out of the bullpen…Worked 26.1 innings, allowing 36 hits and 28 runs (20 earned)…Walked six, hit five and struck out 17 …Posted a 1-2 record and one save…Had a 6.84 ERA…Made his season debut against Widener (Feb. 27), taking the loss in a 9-8 game, allowing three hits and one earned run in 1.2 innings, while striking out one…Struck out his only batter in a game against York (March 6)…Earned the save in a 4-2 win over UMass-Boston (March 16), working three innings and allowing two hits, one walk and one earned run…Was charged with the loss in an 11-4 game against Babson (March 19), working 1.1 innings and allowing one walk, six hits, two hit batsmen and 10 runs (five earned)…Allowed two hits, one walk and two earned runs in .2 innings against Maritime (March 22), while striking out one…Hurled 2.1 innings in a 4-3 Raptor win over New Jersey City (March 29, Game One), allowing one hit and striking out three…Worked 1.1 innings in the Raptors’ 5-4 loss to The College of New Jersey (April 3), allowing two hits, one walk and two earned runs, while fanning one…Allowed three unearned runs and four hits in 2.2 innings against Rowan (April 10), while striking out two…Hurled two shutout innings against Rutgers-Newark (April 13, Game One), allowing three hits and fanning one…That game was the first of four straight shutout outings, including one inning apiece against Alvernia (April 15, one hit, two strikeouts) and Ramapo (April 19, Game One, one strikeout) and .1 inning against Centenary (April 22)…Allowed four hits, one walk and four earned runs in 2.1 innings at Montclair State (April 25)…Allowed three hits and two earned runs in two innings against Montclair State (May 3) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs…Hurled 2.1 innings against Rowan (May 7) in the NJAC playoffs, allowing three hits, one walk and one earned run…Closed his season working two innings in the NCAA tournament against Rensselaer (May 16), allowing two hits and two earned runs, while striking out a season-high four batters.
 
Baseball 2024: Led the staff with 15 appearances, all in relief…Worked 21 innings, compiling a 0-1 record, one save and a 4.71 ERA…Held opponents to a .200 batting average…Allowed 16 hits and nine walks, while striking out 24…Didn’t allow an earned run in nine of his 15 games, while allowing only one earned run on two other occasions…Made his season debut against nationally-ranked Immaculata (Feb. 24, Game Two), working 2-1/3 shutout innings of one-hit relief, while striking out four…Took the loss in a game at nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins (March 5), allowing two walks and a hit batsman in 2/3 of an inning to get charged with three earned runs…Pitched two scoreless innings of one-hit ball, striking out four, in a win over UMass-Dartmouth (March 14)…His two scoreless innings against nationally-ranked Kean University (April 6, Game One) helped the Raptors post a 6-5 victory in 10 innings…He allowed two hits and had two strikeouts in that game…In his next three outings against The Collee of New Jersey (April 7), Rutgers-Newark (April 13) and Alvernia (April 16), he allowed only one unearned run over a five-inning span, while striking out six…Combined with the Kean game, he worked seven innings over four appearances, allowing only one unearned run…Struck out two batters in a scoreless, hitless relief inning against eventual New Jersey Athletic Conference champion Ramapo (April 20, Game Two)…Worked a scoreless 1/3 of an inning on back-to-back days against nationally-ranked Montclair State (April 25 and 26), picking up his one save in the April 26 game with a game-ending fly out to preserve an 8-5 Raptor win.
 
Baseball 2023: Appeared in eight games, making four starts and making four relief outings...Posted a 7.42 ERA and a 1-2 record in 26-2/3 innings…Walked 13 and struck out 16…Allowed 37 hits…Collected one putout and four assists, while making one error for an .833 fielding percentage…Made his Raptor debut at York College of Pennsylvania (March 1), hurling one inning of shutout relief ball, allowing one hit and striking out one…Took the loss in relief against Wilson (March 7, Game One), allowing two hits and one earned run in 2-1/3 innings, while fanning two…Hurled seven strong shutout innings to beat Suffolk (March 14), 7-1, allowing five hits and three walks, while collecting his season high of five strikeouts…Worked 5-1/3 innings without a decision against Swarthmore (March 21), allowing six hits and three runs (two earned), while striking out four…Took the loss against Rutgers-Newark (April 6)m working five innings and allowing seven hits, three walks and six earned runs, while adding one strikeout.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Spent three seasons with Camden County College, including the brief Covid-shortened 2020 campaign…Overall, appeared in 17 games, including 11 on the mound….Worked 40.2 innings (third on the team) in 2022, appearing in 11 games overall and 10 on the mound…Went 4-2 and finished second on the team with 34 strikeouts.
