Biography

A transfer from Camden County College, John Kasper has been a valuable member of the Rutgers-Camden pitching rotation for two years. In 20 appearances on the mound, Kasper has made 17 starts for the Raptors, hurling 103 innings.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2021-22 scholastic year…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll student for the 2021 Fall and 2022 Fall semesters…Dean’s List student.
 
Baseball 2023: Served as a team tri-captain…Made 10 appearances, starting seven games…Worked 43 innings, posting a 0-5 record and a 5.86 ERA…Allowed 60 hits and 36 runs, 28 earned…Walked 12, hit three and struck out 22…Added one putout, 12 assists and three errors…Allowed five runs (four earned), nine hits and one walk, while striking out six over six innings in a 6-4 loss at Mary Washington (March 11)…Pitched his top game of the season, working 6-1/3 innings and allowing six hits, two walks and two unearned runs, but didn’t get a decision in the Raptors’ 10-4 win over Salem State (March 17)…Had another strong outing by working seven innings and allowing six hits, two walks and two earned runs, while striking out three, but took the loss in a 6-0 defeat against Immaculata (March 23)…Allowed one unearned run, one hit and one walk, while striking out three, in 1-1/3 innings of relief work against Cabrini (April 3)…Had another start without a decision in the Raptors’ 4-3 win over Rutgers-Newark (April 7, Game Two), working 6-1/3 innings, allowing eight hits, one walk and three runs (only one earned), while striking out four…Took a loss against Stockton (April 13), allowing 10 hits and six earned runs over seven innings, while fanning two…Suffered a loss against nationally-ranked Rowan (April 20), allowing 11 hits, three walks and nine earned runs in 2-1/3 innings…Hurled a perfect inning, with one strikeout, in a relief outing against The College of New Jersey (April 27)…Took the loss in an 8-6 defeat at Montclair State (May 2, Game One), working 1-1/3 innings in relief and allowing two hits, one walk and three runs (two earned)…Had four total fielding chances (one assist, three putouts) in the Mary Washington game and had three putouts against Rutgers-Newark.
 
Baseball 2022: Posted a 2-5 record in 10 games, all starts…Pitched 60 innings to lead the team…Also led the team with two shutouts and 53 strikeouts…Posted a 4.95 ERA…Named Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week Feb. 28 after his Scarlet Raptor debut Feb. 27 against Oneonta, when he hurled a three-hit shutout over seven innings, walking one and striking out five in a 4-0 Raptor win…Suffered a tough 3-2 loss against FDU-Florham (March 5), working 5.2 innings and allowing three runs (only one earned), while allowing nine hits and one walk with five strikeouts…Bounced back to hurl a three-hit, nine-inning shutout in a 3-0 win over Stevenson (March 13), striking out 10 without allowing a walk…Allowed three runs over seven innings, while striking out seven, but lost a 3-0 decision against Kean (April 2, Game One)…After that game he owned a 2-2 record and a 2.50 ERA…Had some tough conference outings over his final four starts, working 20.1 innings and allowing 21 earned runs while losing three times.

Pre-Rutgers: Attended Harford Community College before playing baseball two seasons at Camden County College…Had a phenomenal 2021 season for the Cougars, working 41.1 innings and posting a 3.27 ERA (32nd nationally in NJCAA Division III)…Walked only 11 batters while striking out 60, ranking 30th nationally…His strikeouts/game of 13.06 ranked 11th nationally.
 
High School: Earned two varsity baseball letters at Gloucester Catholic High School, playing for Coach Adam Tussey…Helped his team capture the New Jersey state championship as a senior in 2017.
 
Personal: Born September 16, 1998…Enjoys hanging out with family and friends…Business Management major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to start his own business…John is the son of John and Lisa Kasper of Glassboro.
