Biography

Julian Gonzalez has captured New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention and several academic honors during his two-year career at Rutgers-Camden. The catcher has appeared in 50 games, starting 48, while posting a .296 batting average with 18 runs and 10 RBIs. His career fielding percentage of .982 is the 15th-best mark in program history for all players with a minimum of 200 total chances. Gonzalez has recorded 303 putouts and 28 assists in his 337 total chances.

Baseball 2025: Appeared in 28 games, starting 26…Hit .268 with 10 runs and 10 RBIs…Added one double for a .282 slugging percentage…Had 20 walks and was hit by a pitch on two occasions…Posted a .436 on-base percentage…Notched 170 putouts, 17 assists and three errors for a .984 fielding percentage, while also adding his first career double play…Notched five games with double-digit putouts, including the opening game of the season against Immaculata (Feb. 22) when he had 13 putouts and one assist, while going 2-for-3 with two sacrifices, two runs and one RBI…Went 2-for-2 with one RBI, one walk, one HBP, one sacrifice, nine putouts and one assist against Swarthmore (March 1)…Had 10 putouts against York (March 6) and went 1-for-3 with two walks, one run, 11 putouts and one assist against Cortland (March 9)…Had a season-high three walks and scored one run against Mount Union (March 15)…Had a season-high 14 putouts while going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs against nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins (March 17)…Had a four-game hitting streak (5-for-11, .455 with two RBIs) from March 21-April 3 and added another four-game hitting streak (4-for-12, .333) from April 17-25)…Notched 11 putouts against William Paterson (April 26, Game Two).
 
Baseball 2024: Appeared in 22 games, starting 20 as the Scarlet Raptors’ catcher…Earned NJAC Honorable Mention…Hit .328 with eight runs and four RBIs…Had three doubles to post a .375 slugging percentage…Hit by a pitch four times and walked twice for a .386 on-base percentage…Added one sacrifice…Third on the team with 133 putouts…Added 11 assists and made only three errors for a .980 fielding percentage…Threw out seven would-be base stealers…Had four multi-hit games and three contests with double-digits in putouts…Made his collegiate debut in the second game of a Feb. 24 doubleheader against Immaculata, going 1-for-2 and adding 11 putouts…Went 2-for-3 with one run, five putouts and one assist against Rosemont (March 3, Game Two)…Had his first collegiate RBI, going 1-for-3, against Saint Joseph (March 11), while adding 11 putouts and one assist…Went 1-for-3, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs against Oneonta (March 12)…Went 2-for-4 against Swarthmore (March 26)…Went 2-for-4, including his first collegiate double, with one run and one RBI against Rowan (April 11)…Had a 4-for-5 game with one double against Rutgers-Newark (April 13, Game Two)…Closed the season with a five-game hitting streak, going 5-for-14 (.357) with one double, two RBIs and two runs.
