A transfer from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Manny Colon joins the Scarlet Raptors’ baseball program this season.
Pre-Rutgers: Played in 56 games, starting 54, over two years at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County…Started 33 of his 35 games as a freshman in 2013, hitting .163 with nine runs, eight RBIs, three doubles, one triple and one home run…Added 16 walks for a .273 on-base percentage…Defensively, compiled a .984 fielding percentage with 95 putouts, 32 assists and only two errors, while helping the Retrievers’ pitching staff practically slash its ERA in half (4.78, compared to 9.01 in 2012)…His first career home run came at Albany on April 27, 2013…Hit .214 as a sophomore, while starting all 21 of his games…Had seven runs, 11 RBIs, six doubles and two home runs…Compiled a .386 slugging percentage and a .329 on-base percentage, with 10 walks and two HBP…Had a .983 fielding percentage (46 putouts, 13 assists, one error)…For his two-year UMBC career, hit .184 (32-for-174) with 16 runs, 19 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple and three home runs…Had 26 walks and two HBP, a .299 slugging percentage and a .296 on-base percentage…Collected 141 putouts and 45 assists, while making three errors for a .984 fielding percentage.
