Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Matt Giampetro returns for his third season with the Rutgers-Camden baseball team. He has played in eight games as a Scarlet Raptor, compiling a .300 career batting average (3-for-10), a .400 slugging percentage and a .417 on-base percentage.
 
Baseball 2015: Played in four games, going 1-for-4 (.250)…Had one walk…Had a .250 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage…Made his season debut at Johns Hopkins University (March 25), going 0-for-1 in the designated hitter spot…In two plate appearances as a DH against Rutgers-Newark (April 4, Game One), went 0-for-1 and had a walk…Went 0-for-1 and had a putout in left field at New Jersey City University (April 18, Game Two)…Stroked an eighth-inning single to center field and added a putout in right field against Eastern University (April 27).
 
Baseball 2014: Played in four games, hitting .333 (2-for-6) with two runs, one double and one RBI…Added one walk for a .429 on-base percentage…Had a slugging percentage of .500…Made two putouts in as many chances for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage…Made collegiate debut as a defensive replacement in right field against Worcester State (March 18) and later flied out in his first at bat…Went 2-for-2 with a double, one run and one RBI against New Jersey City University (April 3), helping the Raptors post a 15-5 victory…His first collegiate hit was a pinch-hit single to left field in the seventh inning, and he later scored a run in the Raptors’ two-run frame…Added a RBI double to left field in the eighth…Scored a run and had his first collegiate walk against Penn State-Brandywine (April 22).
 
High School: A dual-sport letterman at Cherry Hill High School West who captured two varsity baseball letters for Coach Dan McMaster…Also earned three letters in bowling…Captured All-Conference Second Team honors on the baseball diamond…Participated in the Carpenter Cup, the Diamond Classic and the Camden County All-Star Game…John Clark Memorial Scholarship recipient.
 
Personal: Born May 12, 1995….Last name pronounced “jam-PEE-tro”…Enjoys bowling and playing other sports for fun…Business major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to get a successful job in business or the food science industry…Matt is the son of Donald and Christine Giampetro of Cherry Hill.
