Biography

Eric Benjamin joined the Rutgers-Camden basketball program during the 2023 spring semester after playing at NAIA Fisher College during the 2022 fall semester. In three semesters with the Scarlet Raptors, Benjamin has started 31 of his 36 games, averaging 108 points and 2.7 rebounds. He has produced 55 assists and 34 steals during that time.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2023 Spring and 2024 Spring semesters.
 
Basketball 2023-24: Played in all 25 of the Scarlet Raptors’ games, starting 24…Finished second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game…Tied for third on the team with 43 assists…Notched 24 steals and two blocked shots…Averaged 2.9 rebounds…Shot 102-for-240 (.425) from the field, including 65-for-158 (.411) from three-point range while leading the team in treys and three-point shooting percentage…Shot 25-for-39 (.641) from the foul line…His 65 three-point field goals tied for the fourth-highest single-season total of treys in program history…Drilled five three-pointers in the season opener against Hunter (Nov. 8), going 5-for-8 from beyond the arc…Collected three or more treys in 15 games…Named Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on Jan. 8 after scoring 18 points against Penn State-Berks (Jan. 3) and adding a career-high 10 rebounds for his first Raptor double-double, and following up that game with 13 points against Ramapo (Jan. 6)…Scored in double figures on 19 occasions, with a high of 20 against Rowan (Jan. 31) and 19 against Baruch (Nov. 14)…Added 18-point games against Hunter (Nov. 8) and Penn State-Berks (Jan. 3)…Had his high of five assists in the Penn State-Berks game, one of six times he dished out three or more assists…Grabbed a career-high four steals, while adding 13 points, four rebounds and one assist against Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 27).
 
Basketball 2022-23: Played in 11 games, starting seven…Finished third on the team in scoring (8.7 ppg)…Added 2.2 rebounds per game…Dished off 12 assists and had 10 steals and one blocked shot…Shot 37-for-90 (.411) from the floor, including 19-for-63 (.302) from three-point range…Hit three of his four foul shots (.750)…Scored 15 points and added three rebounds, one assist and one steal in his first game as a Scarlet Raptor, Jan. 11 against New Jersey City…Notched 11 points, two rebounds and set season highs with three assists and two steals in his next game, Jan. 14 against William Paterson…Also had two steals in games against Stockton (Jan. 25. his first start of the season) and Rowan (Feb. 1, while adding 13 points)…Had a season-high five rebounds, while adding six points, against Ramapo (Feb. 4)…Set his season high with 17 points against Kean (Feb. 8), shooting 7-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-8 from three-point range…Notched his lone blocked shot against Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 28).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Started his collegiate career at Regent University (Virginia Beach, Virginia) in 2020-21, playing in two games and scoring 15 points, all coming against Mid-Atlantic Christian University (Nov. 17, 2020)…Played 11 games at Fisher College during the 2022 fall semester, making two starts…Averaged 6.4 points and 1.1 rebounds, while adding 10 assists, four steals and two blocks…Had a high of 23 points off the bench at Johnson University in Kissimmee, Florida…Shot 8-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-5 from three-point range, and added 3-for-4 shooting from the foul line…Was a member of the Camden County College men’s basketball team during the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season, retaining his freshman eligibility.
 
High School: Basketball letterman at Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, New Jersey…Averaged 15.3 points as a senior during the 2019-20 season…Scored 14 points to help the Chargers win the South Jersey Group 3 championship in 2020…Graduated in 2020.
