Biography

After missing the 2015-16 season, Marcus Taylor returned with a bang in 2016-17, playing a key role off the bench for the Scarlet Raptors, while averaging 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds.
 
Taylor enters his senior season this winter with 118 career assists, tied for 21st on the program’s all-time list. If he dishes out 42 or more assists this season, he’ll vault into the Top 12 or higher on the career list.
 
Taylor has played in 69 career games with the Scarlet Raptors, averaging 7.3 points and 2.3 rebounds. In addition to his 118 assists, he has notched 52 career steals and 15 blocked shots.
 
Basketball 2016-17: Played in 21 games, starting three…Averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds…Fourth on the team with 31 assists…Added 14 steals and three blocked shots…Shot 43-for-131 (.328) from the floor, including 10-for-37 (.270) from three-point range…Shot .723 (34-for-47) from the foul line…Scored in double figures three times, including his season high of 20 points against Ramapo College (Dec. 14), aided by 7-for-10 shooting from the floor (3-for-4 from three-point range) and 3-for-3 shooting from the foul line…That game was one of five times he went perfect from the foul line, including a 4-for-4 performance at Rosemont College (Nov. 18) in the Scarlet Raptors’ season opener…Collected 17 points against Neumann University (Jan. 9) as the Scarlet Raptors upset the previously-undefeated Knights, the nation’s 17th-ranked team, 68-67…It was the Raptors’ first win over a nationally-ranked team in 13 years…Scored 10 points at Haverford College (Jan. 16)…Notched a career-high eight rebounds against Rowan University (Nov. 30) and tied that mark with an eight-rebound game against Kean University (Feb. 4)…Also set a career high of four steals and tied his career high of seven assists in that Kean game, while adding nine points…Had four games with four or more assists.
 
Basketball 2014-15: Appeared in all 26 games, starting 12…Averaged 6.9 points and 1.7 rebounds…Finished second on the team with 38 assists and tied for second with 10 blocked shots…Added 17 steals…Shot .413 (66-for-160) from the floor and .679 (38-for-56) from the foul line…Went 10-for-38 (.263) from three-point range…Had seven games scoring in double figures, including a season-high 20 against William Paterson University (Jan. 24) in which he shot 9-for-18 from the floor, 2-for-2 from the foul line and added three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block…Started the Raptors first four games, including the season opener against Immaculata University (Nov. 15), when he scored 16 points, aided by 8-for-9 foul shooting, and added six rebounds (tying his career high), three assists, two steals and one blocked shot…Had a career-high two blocked shots in his first game against William Paterson (Nov. 22)…Had a season high of four assists on three occasions, coming against Neumann University (Jan. 3), Lehman College (Jan. 12) and New York University (March 4) in the ECAC tournament, the first post-season game in the program’s NCAA history…Scored 17 points at Ramapo College (Jan. 17), shooting 6-for-11 from the floor (1-for-2 from three-point range) and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line…In addition to the Immaculata season opener, also scored 16 points against Penn State-Brandywine (Dec. 30)…Shot 6-for-7 from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 on three-point attempts, to score 15 points against Rutgers-Newark (Feb. 11).
 
Basketball 2013-14: Played in 22 games, starting five, during his freshman year…Finished third on the Scarlet Raptors in scoring (8.7 ppg) and added 1.9 rebounds per game…Second on the team with 49 assists and fifth in steals (21)…Finished 15th in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with 2.2 assists per game…Named the NJAC Rookie of the Week on Dec. 2 and Jan. 13…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week Dec. 2…Scored in double figures on 10 occasions, including a career-high 23 points against both Lycoming College (Dec. 1) and Kean University (Jan. 11), aided by 9-for-15 shooting from the floor in both games…In the Kean contest, shot 4-for-7 from three-point range…Had his best night from the foul line against Eastern University (Dec. 16), shooting 8-for-10…Grabbed a career-high six rebounds against The College of New Jersey (Dec. 7)…Had two games where he dished out seven assists, coming against Rowan University (Nov. 26) and Montclair State University (Jan. 4)…Grabbed his high of three steals against Lehman College (Dec. 29).
 
High School: Captured 10 varsity letters at Sterling High School, including four apiece in basketball and football…Added two track letters…Captured Colonial Conference Liberty Division First Team honors during his senior basketball season, his fourth all-conference honor…Named team MVP…Honor Roll student…3.7 GPA.
