
Austin Marias played in a career-high 16 games during his second season with the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer program, including his first six career starts. He also continued his outstanding academic achievements, earning New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2016-17 scholastic year.
Marias was a member of the inaugural Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during the Fall 2015 semester and has repeated on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every semester since then (Spring 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2017).
Overall, Marias has appeared in 18 games at Rutgers-Camden.
Soccer 2016: Played in 16 games, starting six…Took three shots, two on goal for a .667 percentage…Contributed to five of the Scarlet Raptors’ seven shutouts, including a start against No. 5/12 nationally-ranked Haverford College (Oct. 5), when he played the entire 90 minutes in Rutgers-Camden’s 1-0 victory…Made his first collegiate start on Oct. 1, playing the entire 110 minutes in a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Ramapo College…Also contributed to shutouts against Farmingdale State (4-0, Sept. 10), Rutgers-Newark (3-0, Sept. 17), The College of New Jersey (1-0, Sept. 28) and Swarthmore (0-0, Oct. 19).
Soccer 2015: Saw action in a pair of Rutgers-Camden victories during his freshman season…Played 10 minutes during the season-opening 9-0 victory over Rosemont College (Sept. 1)…Played his season high of 13 minutes in a 7-1 victory over Misericordia University (Sept. 23).
Pre-Rutgers: Transferred to Rutgers-Camden from the University of Rhode Island, but didn’t play soccer for the Rams.
High School: Three-year soccer varsity letterman (sophomore, junior and senior seasons) for Coaches Ryan Franks and Brian Gibney at Shawnee High School…Served as team captain…Also ran track and field for the Renegades…Honor Roll student.
Club Team: Cherry Hill Phoenix 95.
Personal: Born September 16, 1996…Enjoys going to the beach…Finance major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to pursue a MBA…Over the summer, interned at Holman Enterprises with the Strategic Ventures Team, where he will work part time during the season…Austin is the son of Mark and Renee Marias of Medford.
