
A standout on the soccer pitch and in the classroom, Clayton Taylor tied for third on the Scarlet Raptors in scoring last season with 11 points (four goals, three assists). He also continued his academic excellence, as he has been named to every Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll since the program started during the Fall 2015 semester. He repeated on the AD Honor Roll during the Spring 2016, Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters.
During his three seasons with the Rutgers-Camden soccer team, Taylor has appeared in 54 games, starting 40. He has produced nine goals (three of them game winners) and three assists for 21 points. He also competed in two meets with the 2015-16 indoor track team.
Taylor will serve as one of the Scarlet Raptors' four captains this season.
Soccer 2016: Played in 20 of the Raptors’ 22 games, starting 18…Tied for third on the team with 11 points…Finished fourth on the team with four goals…Tied for fourth on the team with three assists…Took 24 shots, 12 on goal for a .500 percentage…Opened the season collecting one goal and one assist in a 3-3 tie against St. Mary’s (Sept. 2), leading the Raptors to a huge comeback tie: trailing, 3-1, he assisted on a goal by Aaron Muse at 79:58 and scored the tying goal at 81:08, assisted by Brad Maine…Notched one assist in a 4-0 win over Farmingdale State (Sept. 10) and scored the Raptors’ lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Montclair State (Sept. 24)…Scored the tying goal as the Raptors played to a 1-1 deadlock at Ramapo College (Oct. 1)…Assisted on the Raptors’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Rowan (Oct. 12)…Notched his final goal of the season in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs, a 4-2 loss to Montclair State (Oct. 29).
Indoor Track 2015-16: Competed in two meets, running the 400-meter dash both times…Posted a 1:04.14 clocking to finish 38th of 44 at the Golden Bear Invitational (Jan. 15)…Ran a personal best of 1:02.21 at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 6), finishing 42nd of 43.
Soccer 2015: Appeared in 15 games, starting 10…Scored two goals, both of them game winners…Took seven shots, five on goal…Notched the game-winning goal in his first contest of the season, heading home a shot at 72:34 to beat No. 25-ranked Rowan University (Sept. 30)…Also headed in the eventual game-winning goal of a 2-0 victory at Stockton University (Nov. 4), which helped the Scarlet Raptors win a semifinal game on their way to the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship…After coming off the bench in his first two games, made his first start in a 3-0 loss against powerful Haverford College (Oct. 7), a team that eventually reached the NCAA Elite Eight…Started nine of his last 10 games, including the final seven…Played his season high of 86 minutes in a 2-0 shutout at Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 24)…Played in five of the Raptors’ eight shutouts, starting four of those games.
Soccer 2014: Played in 19 games, making 12 starts…Notched three goals for six points…Had 16 shots, seven on goal…Scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win at The College of New Jersey (Oct. 16)…Made his collegiate debut with 16 minutes of playing time in a 3-0 loss to Lynchburg College (Sept. 13)…Made first career start in a 2-0 loss against nationally-ranked Christopher Newport University (Sept. 20)…Collected first collegiate goal in a 3-0 win at New Jersey City University (Sept. 27)…Scored the Raptors’ lone goal in a 1-1 double-overtime deadlock at Stockton (Oct. 29)…Played in six of the Raptors’ eight shutouts, starting four…Started all three games as the Raptors won the ECAC Div. III Metro/Upstate Men’s Soccer Championship with victories over Sage Colleges (2-1, Nov. 12), New York University (1-0, Nov. 15) and Stockton (2-1, Nov. 16).
