Formerly the Coordinator of Facilities and Events at Rutgers University-Camden, as well as a men's soccer player and assistant soccer coach for the Scarlet Raptors, Chris Edelschein was named the Assistant Director of Athletics - Facilities and Recreational Services in September, 2018.
After two years as a graduate assistant coach at Misericordia University, Edelschein returned to his alma mater to join the Rutgers-Camden men's soccer coaching staff in 2014, as he also joined Rutgers-Camden’s Athletic Department staff in February, 2015.
While an undergraduate at both Montclair State University and Rutgers University-Camden, Edelschein was a standout athlete for the men's soccer team. His career included 18 goals and 7 assists in 83 games played, three New Jersey Athletic Conference championships, a team MVP selection for Rutgers-Camden in 2011, as well as recognition for the NJAC’s prestigious David Logar Leadership Award in 2011. He was the first Rutgers-Camden player to ever receive this award.
While coaching collegiately, Edelschein helped Misericordia post a 26-11-6 combined record during his two seasons as an assistant, earning NCAA tournament berths both years and a MAC Freedom Conference championship. As an assistant with Rutgers-Camden, the program posted a 30-16-3 combined record in 2014 and 2015, playing in back-to-back conference championships. Rutgers-Camden captured the NJAC championship in 2015. Edelschein was also a staff coach at Real Jersey FC, serving as a head coach and trainer. He holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Coaching Diploma.
Edelschein was four-year soccer letterman at Shawnee High School. During his senior soccer season in 2006, he led Shawnee to the Group 3 state championship with a perfect 27-0-0 record.
Outside of his work, Edelschein enjoys spending time with his family, as well as his dog, Mack.
