Connor Hurff returns for his fourth season with the Scarlet Raptors’ coaching staff. One of the program’s all-time great players, Hurff joined the Rutgers-Camden coaching staff in 2016 after completing his outstanding Raptor playing career during the 2015 season.

Hurff anchored the midfield for three seasons at Rutgers-Camden, leading the Scarlet Raptors to an outstanding 53-17-5 record over that span. The Scarlet Raptors went to three New Jersey Athletic Conference championship games during his career, won two NJAC titles, earned two NCAA tournament berths, captured the 2014 ECAC Metro/Upstate championship and played for the NCAA Division III title in 2013, losing the championship game in double overtime.

Over that 75-game span, Hurff played in 73 games, starting all 73, and collected 21 goals (seven game winners) and 24 assists for 66 points. He is tied for fourth on the program’s career chart for assists and ranks eighth in points.

As one of the Raptors’ tri-captains during both his junior and senior seasons, he capped his career in 2015 by earning NJAC First Team, ECAC Division III Metro First Team and NSCAA South Atlantic Region Second Team honors. He was a NJAC Second Team player as a junior in 2014, when he also was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3, and assisted on the game-winning goal in the ECAC Metro/Upstate championship game.

During his first year with the Scarlet Raptors in 2013, Hurff earned a berth on the Cialella Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team and started all 26 games to tie a single-season program record and lead the Scarlet Raptors to their best season ever. Rutgers-Camden went 23-1-2, reached the national championship game and finished as the No. 2-ranked Division III team in the country.

Hurff started his collegiate career on an athletic scholarship at Rutgers-New Brunswick, where he was a medical red-shirt in 2011 while missing the season recovering from knee surgery. He played three games in 2012 in his first season back on the soccer pitch before transferring to Rutgers-Camden. He was named to the Big East All-Academic Team in both 2011 and 2012.

A scholastic standout at St. Augustine Prep, Hurff earned NSCAA Regional All-American honors while leading the Hermits to the Non-Public A state title. He capped his stellar four-year career in 2010 by earning First Team All-State honors, being named a Top 15 player in the state, capturing Offensive Player of the Year recognition from the South Jersey Coaches Association and garnering South Jersey First Team and Player of the Year honors from the Courier-Post and Philadelphia Inquirer newspapers. He also earned Player of the Year and First Team All-Area recognition from the Press of Atlantic City and The Daily Journal. His numerous honors as a senior capped off an award-filled career at St. Augustine Prep.

A Criminal Justice major at Rutgers-Camden, Hurff graduated in December, 2015.

In February of 2016, Hurff competed at pre-season camp with the Bethlehem Steel FC, the United Soccer League (USL) affiliate owned by the Philadelphia Union. Although an injury ended that venture, Hurff started his own company to coach and train soccer players, named Diamond Soccer. In June of 2017, Hurff earned his U.S. Soccer Federation National “D” License.
