Assistant Coach Hector Romero (3rd season)

Hector Romero returns to the Rutgers University-Camden staff this season, where he will work with the Scarlet Raptors’ goalies for the third season.
A two-time All-Catholic League selection at LaSalle College High School who went on to play at Chowan University, Romero was a keeper for current Rutgers-Camden Head Coach Tim Oswald at PSC Coppa Bucks, winning the 2004 NCS EPYSA State Championship.
At LaSalle College High School, he was a four-year varsity player, won a Philadelphia Catholic League title and set a single-season school record with 15 shutouts,. That mark was later broken when his brother posted 17 shutouts.
Romero currently serves at the Director of Coaching/Vice President of the Philadelphia Soccer Club (PSC), where he is responsible for player and coaching development. Five PSC teams won state championships in 2017. He also has been a long-time assistant coach and goalie coach at LaSalle College High School, guiding the team to three Philadelphia Catholic League championships and three District championships.
As the Head Coach of the Philadelphia Soccer Club’s U23 program, his program played in the EDP U23 Super Club, going undefeated with a 3-0-2 mark. He also has led a Philadelphia Soccer Club team to the NCS EPYSA State Championship in 2015 in the EDP League champions top flight and saw his program ranked in the Top 10 in the country for two years.
Romero lives in Philadelphia and works for All-Brite Metal, specializing in antique restoration.
