Biography

Daniel Gilbert had a stellar return to collegiate soccer during the 2015 season. A member of the 2008 Rutgers-Camden soccer team which made the program’s first trip ever to the NCAA tournament, Gilbert returned to school and the soccer program after a few years away, and ended up playing a key role as one of the Raptors’ starting marking backs.
 
Over his two seasons, Gilbert has played in 34 games, starting 19, and contributing two assists for two points. He has helped Rutgers-Camden reach the NCAA tournament in both of his collegiate seasons.
 
Gilbert also was named to the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2016 spring semester.
 
Soccer 2015: Played in 20 of the Raptors’ 24 games, starting 18…Notched one assist for one point…Took seven shots, one on goal…Played in seven of the Raptors’ eight shutouts, starting five…His successful return to collegiate soccer came in the season-opening 9-0 win over Rosemont College (Sept. 1), when he came off the bench, played 20 minutes and assisted on the Raptors’ final goal, which was scored by Jeff Auleta…Played 61 minutes off the bench in a 1-0 shutout over Cabrini College (Sept. 16)…Made his first start of the season in a 3-1 win over William Paterson University (Sept. 19) and started all of his games the rest of the season…Earned Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week honor on Sept. 21 for his contributions in wins over Cabrini and Paterson…Played all 110 minutes in a 0-0 shutout at No. 3-ranked Montclair State University (Nov. 7) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship game, helping the Raptors win their fourth NJAC title in five years with a penalty kick shootout victory…Played the entire game in a 2-1 double-overtime win over Eastern University (Nov. 14) in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, contributing stellar defense and adding his season high of two shots...Played all 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss to SUNY-Oneonta (Nov. 15) in the second round of the NCAA tournament, marking the ninth time during the season he played every minute of the game.
 
Soccer 2008: Played in 14 games, starting one…Collected one assist…Took three shots, one on goal…Made his debut in a 1-0 victory over the No. 9-ranked host team at the North Carolina Wesleyan Fall Classic (Aug. 30)…Assisted on a goal against No. 25 Greensboro College the next day as the Scarlet Raptors won the North Carolina Wesleyan Fall Classic title…Made his lone start in a 2-0 victory over Gwynedd-Mercy College (Sept. 17).
 
High School: Captured three soccer letters and two in basketball at Cinnaminson High School, graduating in 2008…Played soccer for ex-Rutgers-Camden Coach Bill Dent…His basketball coach with the Pirates was Mike Fries…As a senior, captured All-South Jersey First Team honors from the Philadelphia Inquirer and added All-South Jersey First Team recognition from the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association…Added a pair of honors from the Courier-Post newspaper, being named to the All-South Jersey Second Team and to the South Jersey All-Group 2 First Team as a senior…Capped season earning All-State Second Team honors…Led his team to the Group 2 state championship game…Was a member of the South team for the Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey’s Senior All-Star Showcase Games...Also earned Second Team All-County as a basketball senior.
 
Personal: Born November 11, 1989…Hobbies and interests include Philadelphia sports, video games and hanging out with friends…Double majors at Rutgers-Camden in Business Administration and Finance…Post-graduation plans include coaching soccer and working in the financial services industry…Daniel is the son of Charles and Donna Gilbert of Cinnaminson.
