Biography

An outstanding defender and student, Jason Garwood earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore for both his play on the soccer pitch and his work in the classroom. In two seasons at Rutgers-Camden, Garwood has appeared in 39 games, starting 35. He owns one goal and one assist for three career points, while contributing to 16 of the 17 shutouts Rutgers-Camden has posted in his career.
 
Garwood, who will serve as one of the team's four captains in 2025, will graduate this year after his third season at Rutgers-Camden.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2024-25 scholastic year…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2023 Fall, 2024 Spring, 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student.
 
Soccer 2024: Earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention…Played in all 21 Rutgers-Camden games, starting 18…Started seven of the team’s nine shutouts, including three straight 1-0 wins to open the season against Neumann (Aug. 30), Haverford (Aug. 31) and Penn State-Abington (Sept. 4)…Took three shots, two of them on goal…Notched his first career goal and assist to collect three points…Scored the Scarlet Raptors’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Arcadia (Sept. 11) for his first career goal…Took two shots, both on goal, in the Arcadia game…Assisted on Youssef Montasser’s goal in a 1-1 tie at Rosemont (Sept. 18) for his first career assist.
 
Soccer 2023: Played in 18 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 19 games, starting 17…Contributed to seven of the team’s eight shutouts, missing only a 1-0 win over Ramapo (Sept. 27)…Started his first 14 games and his last three games, coming off the bench in his only non-start against Stockton (Oct. 18)…Made his collegiate debut in the season-opening 4-0 win over Arcadia and also contributed to shutouts in the Raptors’ next two games (2-0 over Eastern, Sept. 2 and 1-0 over Neumann, Sept. 5)…Also helped the team post shutouts against Penn State-Abington (1-0, Sept. 20), William Paterson (2-0, Sept. 22), New Jersey City (1-0, Sept. 30) and Rutgers-Newark (0-0, Oct. 14)…Took his only shot of the season during a 5-0 loss against nationally-ranked Montclair State (Oct. 21).
