Biography

Joni Gjyleri returned to the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer program after a year away from campus and earned all-conference recognition while playing a major role in the Scarlet Raptors’ success. In two seasons at Rutgers-Camden, Gjyleri has appeared in 43 games, starting 26, and owns 10 goals and five assists for 25 points.
 
Academics: Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2017 Fall and 2018 Spring semesters.
 
Soccer 2019: Appeared in 20 games, starting 17…Finished second on the team in goals (6) and points (16)…Tied for the team lead in assists (4)…Notched one game-winning goal…Second on the team with 51 shots, while tying for the team lead in shots on goal (28)…Had a .549 percentage in shots on goal…Named New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention…Honored as the first Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week during the 2019-20 scholastic year, winning the award on Sept. 2…Opened the season with a bang, scoring the game-winning goal at 9:21 to produce a 1-0 win over Carthage in the Raptors’ first game (Aug. 30)…Added a goal the next day during a 5-1 win over Mount St. Vincent (Aug. 31)…In the third game of the season, assisted on the game-winning goal by Skyler Diggs during a 1-0 win over Alvernia (Sept. 4)…Added an assist in a 5-3 win over Cabrini (Sept. 11)…During a 2-0 win over Immaculata (Sept. 18), assisted on the game-winning goal by Diggs and later added an insurance goal to help account for both goals…Took his season high of seven shots in the Immaculata game…Collected an assist during a 3-2 win over Haverford (Sept. 25)…Scored both Raptor goals in a 2-2 tie against Kean (Sept. 28)…Notched a goal during a 2-2 tie against William Paterson (Oct. 26)…Played his season high of 85 minutes during a 2-0 win over Rowan (Oct. 17).
 
Soccer 2017: Appeared in 23 games, starting nine…Collected four goals, including one game winner, and one assist…Finished fifth on the team with nine points…Took 21 shots…Started his first five collegiate games, including the season opener against Lycoming College (Sept. 1)…Took his first shot during a 6-2 win over Keystone College (Sept. 2)…Played his season high of 63 minutes and collected his first collegiate goal, helping the Raptors rally from a 2-0 deficit to an eventual 3-3 tie against Frostburg State University (Sept. 9)…Scored his second goal in a 5-1 win over Cabrini University (Sept. 13)…Notched his first collegiate game-winning goal and added one assist during a 5-1 victory over New Jersey City University (Oct. 7)…Scored one of the Raptors’ seven goals in a 7-1 win at Lancaster Bible College (Oct. 19), while taking his season high of four shots.
 
High School: Four-year varsity soccer letterman at Egg Harbor Township High School for Coach Peter Lambert…First Team All-Conference as a junior and a senior…All-South Jersey and All-State.
