Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Sean Welch returns for his fourth season with the Scarlet Raptors, where he will serve as one of the team's four captains. The center midfielder has appeared in 49 career games, starting 25, and adding one goal and two assists for four points.
 
A member of the inaugural Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (Fall 2015 semester), he also added AD Honor Roll recognition during the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters.
 
Soccer 2016: Appeared in 21 games, starting 16…Collected one goal and one assist for three points…Took nine shots…His first career goal 4:41 into the second overtime lifted the Scarlet Raptors over Cabrini College, 1-0 (Sept. 14)…Collected his second career assist during a 5-1 win over New Jersey City University (Oct. 8).
 
Soccer 2015: Appeared in 14 games, starting three…Took one shot and collected one assist…Played in four of the Scarlet Raptors’ eight shutouts, including a start during a 2-0 win at Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 24, playing 39 minutes)…Collected his lone assist on a Ramadan Bayyan goal during a 2-0 win at Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 24)…Played a season-high 59 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Swarthmore College (Oct. 21)…Made his first start and played 33 minutes in a 3-1 win over New Jersey City University (Sept. 21)…Also started in a 5-1 win over Ramapo College (28 minutes, Oct. 10).
 
Soccer 2014: Appeared in 14 games, starting six…Took two shots, one on goal…Made collegiate debut in a 2-1 win over Drew University (Sept. 6)…Made first start the next day against Susquehanna University as the Scarlet Raptors won the championship of the Cialella Soccer Classic, 4-0…Started and played a season-high 64 minutes in a 3-1 win over Eastern University (Sept. 10)…Played in five of the Scarlet Raptors’ eight shutouts, starting two…Helped the Raptors win their first two games of the ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Men’s Soccer Championship tournament by playing against Sage Colleges (Nov. 12, a 2-1 win) and New York University (Nov. 15, 1-0)…Rutgers-Camden finished its season 16-8-1 as the ECAC Metro/Upstate champion.
 
High School: Four-year soccer letterman at Shawnee High School for Coach Ryan Franks…Added two basketball letters with the Renegades…Philadelphia Inquirer All-South Jersey Second Team as a senior in 2013…All-State…Olympic Conference American Division First Team…Senior All-Star Game selection…All-County First Team…Shawnee captain during junior and senior years.

Personal: Born July 24, 1995…Club soccer with Cherry Hill Phoenix 94, which completed its U18 season ranked No. 3 in New Jersey, No. 15 in Region 1 and No. 42 nationally…NJ Club Soccer 2013 state finalist…2013 Jefferson Cup champions…Hobbies and interests include soccer, being with family and friends and working in his spare time…Business Management major at Rutgers-Camden, with a Marketing minor…Sean is the son of Matthew and Polly Welch of Medford.
