Biography
A transfer from Goldey-Beacom College, Tanjae Lewis was a key frontcourt player in her first year with the Scarlet Raptors, ranking among the New Jersey Athletic Conference leaders in both scoring and rebounding. She returns for her final year of collegiate eligibility this winter.
Basketball 2013-14: Played in all 24 games, starting 19…Finished third on the team in scoring (9.1 ppg) and second in rebounding (7.3 rpg)…Notched 14 assist and tied for second on the team with 19 steals…Second on the club with 16 blocked shots…Shot .418 (81-for-194) from the floor to finish 14th in the NJAC in field goal percentage…Ranked 28th in the conference in scoring, 13th in rebounding and seventh in offensive rebounding (3.8 per game)…Collected four double-doubles…Scored in double figures 11 times and had five games with 10 or more rebounds…Made her Rutgers-Camden debut with a start against Elizabethtown (Nov. 16) in the season opener, collecting nine points, six rebounds and two blocked shots…Had her first double-double against Rowan University (Nov. 26) with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while adding one steal…Had a double-double of 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds against Bryn Athyn College (Jan. 13), while also setting a career high of three blocked shots and tying her personal high of two steals…Shot 7-for-14 from the floor in that contest…Scored a career-high 20 points (shooting 7-for-16 from the floor and 6-for-11 from the foul line), while added nine rebounds against John Jay College (Jan. 20)…Collected back-to-back double-doubles against Ramapo College (Jan. 25) and Rowan (Jan. 29), notching 17 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high three assists against the Roadrunners and adding 11 points and 10 rebounds against the Profs…Shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor to score 10 points against Richard Stockton College (Feb. 12).
Pre-Rutgers: Played two seasons of basketball at Goldey-Beacom College…Played 13 games as a freshman, averaging 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds…Played in 18 games as a sophomore, averaging 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds…For her two-year career, scored 51 points in her 31 games (1.64 ppg) and added 50 rebounds (1.61 rpg)…Also had six career blocked shots, five steals and four assists…All-Academic team.
High School: Four-year basketball letterwinner at Sterling High School for Coach Kate McDonald…Was named the team’s Most Improved Player…Won Second Team All-Conference and developed into a First Team All-Conference and First Team All-South Jersey Player as a senior…Also was a standout in volleyball, lacrosse and tennis…Honor Roll and Principal’s List student…National Language Honor Society for Spanish…Interact Club.
