Travis Chigi finally had a chance to display his vast talents in 2016 after battling an assortment of injuries over his Scarlet Raptor soccer career. He appeared in 14 games, far more action than he had seen in his previous three years combined, one of which was lost entirely due to injuries. The speedy Chigi, who also competed briefly with the Raptors’ indoor track program during the 2015-16 season, has played in 17 total soccer games at Rutgers-Camden.
Soccer 2016: Played in 14 games, starting three…Collected two goals and one assist to tie for seventh on the team in scoring with five points…Scored goals on both of his two shots, giving him a perfect 1.000 shooting percentage a and 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage…Made his first career start in a 1-1 tie at Ramapo College (Oct. 1)…Collected his first goal to help the Scarlet Raptors defeat New Jersey City University, 5-1 (Oct. 8)…Notched his first assist in a 4-2 win over Kean University (Oct. 15)…Started back-to-back games against Swarthmore (0-0, playing a career-high 67 minutes on Oct. 19) and William Paterson University (a 1-0 loss, Oct. 22)…Accounted for the Raptors’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Stockton University (Oct. 26).
Indoor Track 2015-16: Competed in two meets, running the 400-meter dash in both invitational…Made his collegiate track debut Jan. 15 at the Golden Bear Invitational, finishing 32nd of 44 with a 400-meter time of 59.14…Placed 31st of 43 at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 6), notching a personal best of 57.08 in the 400-meter dash.
Soccer 2015: Appeared in one game in his return to collegiate soccer…Played 12 minutes in Rutgers-Camden’s 5-1 victory over Ramapo College (Oct. 10).
Soccer 2013: Appeared in two games before being lost for the season with an injury…Speedy back played in both contests at the Cialella Soccer Classic, where Rutgers-Camden posted 5-0 wins against Eastern Mennonite (Sept. 7) and Arcadia University (Sept. 8).
High School: Earned a pair of varsity soccer letters at Hunterdon Central High School for Coach Anson Smith…All-Conference Honorable Mention as a senior in 2012.
Club Team: Jersey United…Led team to a State Cup championship in 2013.
