Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Walter Barreto returned to the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer program in 2019 after taking a year off. He completed his stellar four-year career by playing in 18 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 21 games, while earning several academic honors. Barreto finished his career playing in 66 Rutgers-Camden games, scoring three goals and adding four assists for 10 points.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20 scholastic year…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2015 Fall, 2017 Spring, 2017 Fall, 2018 Spring, 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring semesters.
 
Soccer 2019: Appeared in 18 games, starting six…Collected two goals and two assists to tie for fifth on the team in points (6)…Had one game-winning goal…Took 14 shots, putting nine on goal for a .643 percentage…Collected two goals, including the game winner, in a 5-3 victory over Cabrini (Sept. 11), while taking his season high of four shots (three on goal)…Collected an assist on the game-winning goal by Skyler Diggs in a 3-2 win over Penn State-Abington (Oct. 23)…Earned an assist in a 2-2 tie at William Paterson (Oct. 26)…Played his season high of 73 minutes against Misericordia (Sept. 14).
 
Soccer 2017: Appeared in 23 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 24 games, starting 11…Took 25 shots, 10 on goal…Collected one goal and two assists for his first four collegiate points…Made his first collegiate start in a 5-1 victory over Cabrini University (Sept. 13)…First collegiate point came when he assisted on a first-half goal by Shane Guyer during a 3-3 tie against Frostburg State (Sept. 9)…Made his first of five straight starts during a 3-1 win over Misericordia University (Sept. 19), playing his season high of 78 minutes…Notched an assist on a second-half goal by Clayton Taylor during the Raptors’ 5-1 win over New Jersey City University (Oct. 7)…First career goal came early in the second half of an ECAC playoff game at Arcadia University (Nov. 12), providing an insurance tally in a 2-0 victory which lifted the Scarlet Raptors into the tournament semifinals.
 
Soccer 2016: Appeared in 18 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 22 games…Took 16 shots, including 10 on goal for a .625 percentage.
 
Soccer 2015: Appeared in seven games during his freshman season…Took five shots, three on goal, for a .600 percentage…Made his collegiate debut playing 26 minutes in a 9-0 season-opening win over Rosemont College (Sept. 1)…Took two shots in the game, one on goal…Played 45 minutes in a 7-1 win over Misericordia University (Sept. 23), taking one shot on goal…Had one shot and played a season-high 48 minutes in the Raptors’ 2-0 win over Stockton University (Nov. 4) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference semifinals.
 
High School: Two-year varsity soccer letterman at Hightstown High School for Coach Tim Kalick…Named CVC Midfielder of the Year as a senior…Also earned First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area and First Team All-State…Graduated in 2015.
