Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Ryan Kelly played a big role in the unprecedented success of the Scarlet Raptors’ soccer program during his first year at Rutgers-Camden in 2013. A transfer who has played at both Marshall University and Saint Joseph’s University, Kelly played in 20 games as the Raptors posted a 23-1-2 record, won their third straight New Jersey Athletic Conference crown and made their first appearance ever in the NCAA Division III championship game.
 
Soccer 2013: Gave the Scarlet Raptors strength off the bench, playing in 20 games…Took six shots, three on goal…Also a standout student who earned NJAC Academic Honorable Mention…Made his Raptor debut with his season-high of 43 minutes, and added a shot, during the Raptors’ season-opening 2-1 victory at Muhlenberg College (Aug. 30)…Played in eight shutouts, helping the Scarlet Raptors tie a program mark with 12 shutouts…Played 40 minutes in the team’s 5-0 shutout over New Jersey City University (Oct. 30).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Earned a Division 1 scholarship and spent three seasons with D1 programs, including a redshirt season in 2010 at Marshall University…Appeared in six games with Marshall in 2011 and was named to the Conference-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll…Dean’s List at Marshall…Played at St. Joseph’s University in 2012, appearing in 11 games and making one start…Took four shots, two on goal…Made his Hawks’ debut against Hartwick College (Aug. 24)…Made his lone start in the season finale at Temple University (Nov. 3).
 
High School: Capped his stellar four-year soccer career at West Deptford High School in 2009, serving as team captain and leading the Eagles to the South Jersey Group 2 championship and the state semifinals…Played for Coach Tim Cammarota…Team Offensive MVP…First Team All-South Jersey from the Courier-Post and Philadelphia Inquirer newspapers… First Team All-Gloucester County Times, First Team Newark  Star-Ledger All-State…First Team All-Group 2 from the Courier-Post…Colonial Conference Liberty Division First Team…Runner-up for Player of the Year…As a junior in 2008, honors included Gloucester County Times First Team and Courier-Post All-Group 3 First Team…Also three-year baseball letterman for the Eagles…National Honor Society…Honor Roll…4.2/5 GPA.
 
Personal: Born September 28, 1992…Nicknamed “Kelz”…Played club ball with the Pittsgrove Premier 92 Lightning, ranked No. 1 in the state, No. 1 in the region and No. 6 nationally…Helped club team earn three consecutive appearances in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships from 2009-2011…Captain who helped team win the State Cup Championship and Region 1 Premier League Championship…Enjoys hanging with family, going to the beach, working out and playing Xbox on occasions…Believes in karma… Management major at Rutgers-Camden…Ryan is the son of Bernard and Lisa Kelly of Woodbury.
