Biography
A freshman who will play small forward for the women’s basketball program, Tamia Taylor made her Rutgers-Camden athletic debut running two invitationals with the cross country team during the fall.

Taylor is one of the basketball team's representatives on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Cross Country 2016: Competed in a pair of 6K races at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational at Rowan University (Sept. 17) and in the Jack Saint Clair Memorial in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park (Oct. 8)…In her first race, finished fourth on the Raptors and 125th of 148 runners, posting a time of 32:18.27…At the Jack Saint Clair Memorial, ran fifth on the Rutgers-Camden team and 138th of 160 overall (35:06.7).
High School: Multi-sport letterwinner at Atlantic County Institute of Technology, graduating in 2016…Lettered in basketball, cross country, track and lacrosse…Playing four years for Basketball Coach Jason VanderRyk, captured Second Team All-Conference Honorable Mention as a junior and a senior…Served as team captain…Played in the Cape-Atlantic League All-Star Game…Team rebounding leader…As a member of the Oakcrest High School track team, set the program record for the 400 hurdles… Went to Meet of Champions for triple jump…Ran cross country for the first time as a senior, became team captain and was the top runner, posting a personal best of 22 minutes…Qualified for First Team All-American for cross country, but missed qualifications due to injury...Won a $4,000 scholarship…Served as class Vice President during her freshman year.
Personal: Born June 3, 1998…Nicknamed “Miaa”…Her interests lie in helping others…Serves in many organizations, including Toys for Kids and Police Explorers…Mentored an autistic child for two years and mentored a child victim of bullying…Volunteered at nursing homes…Has performed community service at soup kitchens…Double major at Rutgers-Camden in both Psychology and Childhood Studies…Criminal Justice minor…Plans to open a non-profit organization for juveniles and teens following graduation…Tamia is the daughter of Tamara Taylor of Mays Landing.
