Biography

A member of the Rutgers-Camden basketball program during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, Abigail Sampona returned to the program for her final season in the 2022-23 campaign. She appeared in 54 games with the Scarlet Raptors, starting 28, including all 25 Rutgers-Camden games during her senior season.
 
Sampona averaged 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 points during her career, while adding 79 assists, 41 steals and three blocked shots.

Basketball 2022-23: Started all 25 games for the Scarlet Raptors…Averaged 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 points…Led the team with 55 assists and finished fourth on the club with 27 steals…Added two blocked shots…Shot 37-for-56 from the foul line (.661)…Had four assists on four occasions to tie the career high she accomplished three times in the past…Her four-assist games came against John Jay (Nov. 12), Bryn Athyn (Nov. 19), Montclair State (Dec. 3) and Rutgers-Newark (Dec. 10)…Tied her career high with eight points against Montclair State (Dec. 3)…Had a career-high eight rebounds at Ramapo (Jan. 7) to pass her high of seven set against both Rutgers-Newark (Dec. 10) and City College of New York (Dec. 28)…Set her high of five steals against Bryn Athyn (Nov. 19) and tied that high against William Paterson (Feb. 11)…Made 16 straight foul shots, beginning with a 6-for-6 performance against Montclair State (Dec. 3) and continuing with games against Rowan (Dec. 7, 4-for-4), Arcadia (Dec. 14, 2-for-2), City College of New York (Dec. 28, 2-for-2) and Kean (Jan. 4, making her first two before finally missing)…Had three or more assists on 11 occasions…Scored five or more points in seven games…Also had five or more rebounds on seven occasions.
 
Basketball 2020-21: Played in all six games during the short pandemic-altered season, starting three…Finished third on the team with 11 assists…Averaged 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds…Added five steals to place second on the team…Shot 8-for-20 from the floor (.400)…Shot 5-for-7 from the foul line for a .714 percentage, the top mark from the charity stripe for all players with more than two foul shots during the season…Tied her career high of four assists, while adding five points and four rebounds in the season opener against Rutgers University-Newark (Feb. 5)…Scored a career-high eight points while adding four rebounds, one assist and one steal at Rutgers University-Newark (Feb. 6)…Had another four-assist game at The College of New Jersey (Feb. 12)…Collected four rebounds, two points and one steal in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs at Montclair State University (March 5).
 
Basketball 2019-20: Played in 23 games, averaging 0.7 points and 1.2 rebounds…Collected 13 assists, nine steals and one blocked shot…Shot 7-for-25 (.280) from the floor, including 1-for-4 (.250) from three-point range…Made her collegiate debut playing 14 minutes in the Raptors’ season opener at Penn State-Schuylkill, collecting two points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal…Had her season highs of six rebounds and four assists at Cairn (Nov. 16), while adding two points and one steal…Collected her first collegiate blocked shot against Stockton (Dec. 4)…Notched four rebounds, one point, two assists and two steals at the University of Valley Forge (Jan. 13)…Shot 1-for1 from three-point range against Rutgers-Newark (Feb. 8), scoring three points and adding one rebound…Had two points, two rebounds and two assists at Ramapo (Feb. 12).
