Rutgers-Camden Athletics

A transfer from Rwan College of South Jersey-Gloucester, Darnell Demby Jr. joined the Rutgers-Camden men’s basketball program for the 2023-24 season, where he proved to be one of the Scarlet Raptors’ top shooters and shot blockers.
 
Basketball 2023-24: Played in 23 games, starting one…Averaged 4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game…Added 15 assists and 11 steals…Finished third on the team with 12 blocked shots…Shot 37-for-92 (.402) from the field, including 8-for-35 (.229) from three point range…Shot 17-for-24 (.708) from the foul line, the third-highest free throw percentage on the team…Made his Scarlet Raptor debut against Hunter (Nov. 8), scoring three points and adding one rebound in six minutes…Set his high of seven rebounds in his second Raptor game, coming against Bryn Athyn (Nov. 11), and tied that seven-rebound high against Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 27)…Notched his Rutgers-Camden career high of 15 points against Stockton (Nov. 29), shooting 6-for-9 from the field, including 1-for-2 on three-point attempts and going 2-for-2 from the foul line…Had two blocked shots on four occasions, with the first time coming against Bryn Athyn in the Nov. 11 game…Also had his high of two steals set against Bryn Athyn, a mark he tied against Rowan (Jan. 31) and New Jersey City (Feb. 14)…Collected two assists on five occasions, beginning with a game against Kean (Dec. 13)…Made his lone start against Montclair State (Dec. 2), scoring eight points, four rebounds and one steal.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played in 25 games, starting seven, for the RCSJ-Gloucester basketball program in 2022-23…Averaged 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds…Added 72 assists, 32 blocks and 27 steals…Scored in double figures on six occasions, including a high of 17 against Union on Feb. 28.
