After setting the Rutgers-Camden career record for three-point field goals during her junior season, Gabby Greene returns for the final year of her stellar collegiate career, needing only 49 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
Greene has written her name all over the Rutgers-Camden record book, from single-game to season to career standards. In her 77 career games, she owns a program-record 207 three-pointers, while also holding school marks for three-point attempts (611) and three-point field goal percentage (33.9) for all players with the NCAA minimum of 125 treys. Greene’s 951 points already rank 14th on the program’s career list. She is on the verge of becoming the 13th 1,000-point scorer in program history and, if she can approach last season’s career high of 330 points, will move into fifth place on the all-time list. She also ranks among the career leaders with 209 assists (eighth) and 154 steals (ninth).
Greene’s single-season accomplishments include a program-record 82 treys (2016-17 season) and 73 three-pointers last year, tied for the second-highest season mark.
As a sophomore, Greene produced one of the most amazing games in program and NCAA Division III basketball history. On Jan. 25, 2017 at Rowan University, Greene shot 11-for-15 on three-point attempts to set a program single-game three-point record and come within four treys of the all-time Division III mark, which was set with 33 attempts, 26 years earlier. Greene has produced five career games in which she has hit six or more treys.
Greene, who captured New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention last season, has started all 77 of her career games at Rutgers-Camden. With 23 more games this season, she will become only the fifth player in program history to reach 100 games played and she has a shot at the career mark of 104, set by Tamara Carey between 1991-95.
In addition to her basketball abilities, Greene is a member of Rutgers-Camden’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has captured numerous academic honors.
