Biography

Jalissa Pitts has compiled numerous accomplishments during her decorated Rutgers-Camden basketball career, including 1,114 points in only 74 games (73 starts) for a 15.1 scoring average. She ranks 13th on the program’s all-time scoring list despite being limited to only six games as a sophomore due to the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season.
 
A three-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honoree both on the basketball court and in the classroom, Pitts also ranks fourth on the program’s all-time list for free throw attempts (478), fourth in free throw percentage (66.7, with a minimum of 250 free throws made), fifth in free throws made (319), 12th in total rebounds (528) and points per game (15.1, with a minimum of 750 points), 13th in rebounds per game (7.1, with a minimum of 450 rebounds), 22nd in assists (129) and 23rd in steals (122).
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholastic years…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2019 Fall, 2020 Spring, 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2022 Spring, 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring semesters…One of only 21 athletes on the 106-member 2023 Spring AD Honor Roll to earn a 4.0 GPA.
 
Basketball 2022-23: New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team…Started all 25 Rutgers-Camden games and led the team in scoring (18.7 ppg), and rebounding (6.7 rpg), while finishing second in assists (40) and tied for second in steals (38)…Named Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19 and Jan. 30…Joined the 1,000-point career club with 27 points at Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 28)…Collected double-doubles against Rutgers-Newark on Dec. 10 with 28 points and 11 rebounds, and against Stockton on Jan. 25 with 19 points and 10 rebounds…Hit 18 consecutive foul shots, including the final 12 in a 13-for-15 performance against Bryn Athyn (Nov. 19) and the first six in a 7-for-9 game against The College of New Jersey (Nov. 22)…Scored in double figures in 24 of her 25 games, including a career-high 36 points against John Jay (Nov. 12), when she shot 12-for-24 from the floor (1-for-5 from three-point range) and 11-for-19 from the foul line…Scored over 20 points on nine occasions…Was particularly rough on Rutgers-Newark, scoring 28 points in the Dec. 10 meeting and 27 in the rematch Jan. 28, shooting a combined 16-for-26 from the floor (1-for-1 from three-point range) and 22-for-26 from the foul line…Collected seven or more rebounds in 14 games, including twice in double digits that produced double-doubles…Had her season high of six assists in the Jan. 28 meeting against Rutgers-Newark…Had her high of four steals against New Jersey City (Feb. 11)…Blocked two shots in a game against both City College of New York (Dec. 28) and The College of New Jersey (Jan. 18) to tie a career high accomplished twice in previous seasons.
 
Basketball 2021-22: New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention…Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Feb. 21…Started all 18 of her games…Led the team in assists (48) and tied for the team lead in steals (39)…Second on the team in scoring (14.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg)…Third in blocks (8)…Shot 93-for-267 (.348) from the floor and 54-for-81 (.667) from the foul line…Set a career high (since broken) with 32 points, while adding nine rebounds and tying her career high of two blocks against Ramapo (Feb. 16)…Shot 12-for-20 (.600) from the floor, including 1-for-3 from three-point range, and 7-for-11 (.636) from the foul line in that Ramapo game…Had two double-doubles during the season, including 23 points and 12 rebounds against John Jay (Nov. 29) and 17 points/11 rebounds against Kean (Feb. 12)…Scored in double figures in 13 of her 18 games, including nine straight from Dec. 11, 2021-Feb. 16, 2022…In addition to her 32-point game, scored 24 against Kean (Jan. 15) and 23 against John Jay (Nov. 29)…Had 19-point games against Rutgers-Newark (Dec. 11), Bryn Athyn (Dec. 14) and Montclair State (Feb. 5)…Set her career high of seven assists, while adding 18 points, against Rowan (Feb. 2)…Added her career high of seven steals in the 24-point Kean game (Jan. 15)…Collected double-digit rebounds on three occasions, with her high of 12 in the John Jay game…Had her season high of eight free throws (in 12 attempts) against The College of New Jersey (Dec. 1) and collected a pair of games with seven free throws (7-for-9 against Rutgers-Newark Dec. 11 and 7-for-11 in the Ramapo game Feb. 16)…Dished off four or more assists on five occasions…Had seven games with three or more steals.
 
Basketball 2020-21: New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team…Started all six games during the Scarlet Raptors’ pandemic-abbreviated season, averaging 19.0 points to tie for the NJAC scoring lead…Finished fourth in the NJAC in rebounding (9.3 rpg), fifth in minutes per game (34.3) and 10th in steals (1.5 spg)…Scored 114 points, grabbed 56 rebounds, had 10 assists, nine steals and one blocked shot in her six games…Earned Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week honors back-to-back on Feb. 8 and Feb. 15…Collected three double-doubles and scored in double figures in all six games…In the season opener at home against Rutgers-Newark (Feb. 5), scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds…On Feb. 6 at Rutgers-Newark, collected 23 points and 12 rebounds…Also had a double-double at Montclair State University in the NJAC playoffs (March 5), scoring 21 points and adding 10 rebounds…Notched her season high of 25 points at The College of New Jersey (Feb. 12), tying her former career high set against Penn State-Schuylkill as a freshman (Nov. 12, 2019)…Also set her old career high of four steals in that TCNJ game.
 
Basketball 2019-20: Played in all 25 Rutgers-Camden games, starting 24…Averaged 11.0 points (second on the team) and led the Scarlet Raptors with a 7.5 rebounding average…Finished fourth on the team in both assists (31) and steals (36)…Finished fifth on the club with 20 three-point field goals…Shot 87-for-265 (328) from the floor…Third on the team with nine blocked shots…Named NJAC Rookie of the Week and Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week (Feb. 3)…Scored in double figures on 13 occasions and added two more games with nine points…Had five double-digit games in rebounds and just missed adding four more, finishing with nine in those contests…Collected her high of three steals on five occasions and had a trio of assists on three occasions…Notched three double-doubles and was one rebound shy of double-doubles in four more games…Made a big splash in her first collegiate game at Penn State-Schuylkill (Nov. 12), scoring her season high of 25 points (8-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-8 in treys, and 6-for-9 from the foul line), while adding six rebounds and three steals…Had 11 rebounds, seven points, one steal and her first assist and block against Penn State-Lehigh Valley (Nov. 15)…Scored 12 points and added nine rebounds at Gallaudet (Dec. 1), starting a string of four straight games scoring in double figures…Those contests included games against Stockton (Dec. 4, 10 points and nine rebounds) and William Paterson (Dec. 7, 16 points, seven rebounds)…The streak was capped by a 24-point, eight-rebound game against Kean (Dec. 14)…Scored 15 points and added eight rebounds at Penn State-Abington (Jan. 6)…Produced her first career double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds against Ramapo (Jan. 8), while adding three steals and one assist…Scored 12 points at Montclair State (Jan. 15)…Had her second double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds at Stockton (Jan. 29)…In her next game, at Kean (Feb. 1), collected 19 points and nine boards…Finished her three-game stretch with another double-double against The College of New Jersey (Feb. 15), scoring 10 points and adding 13 rebounds…Set her career high with 14 rebounds, while adding eight points, three assists, one block and one steal against Rutgers-Newark (Feb. 8)…Scored 15 points and added nine boards against New Jersey City (Feb. 15)…Closed her season with 11 points against Montclair State (Feb. 19), aided by 5-for-5 shooting from the foul line.
 
High School: Earned 10 varsity letters as a multi-sport athlete at Winslow Township High School, including four apiece for basketball and soccer and two for outdoor track…Captured MVP awards in both the Stuart Country Day and Deptford basketball tournaments…Two-time All-Olympic Conference First Team in basketball...Finished high school with a 4.6 GPA, ranking #21 in her class…Graduated in 2019.
