Biography

Alyna Cabrera rejoined the Rutgers-Camden women’s tennis program for the 2023 spring semester, marking her third year with the Scarlet Raptors. Prior to her tennis career, she made her collegiate athletic debut as a member of the 2019 Rutgers-Camden lacrosse team.
 
Cabrera compiled a 3-9 record in singles competition and a 3-10 doubles mark during her Rutgers-Camden career to post an overall total of 6-19.
 
In addition to her athletic letters at Rutgers-Camden, Cabrera also has earned Dean’s List status.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and a Dean’s List student for the 2021 Spring semester.
 
Tennis Spring 2023: Posted a 1-4 record in singles play (1-2 at sixth singles and 0-2 at the fifth flight)…Played third doubles with Ashton Sirko, posting a 3-5 record…Made her season debut against perennial New Jersey Athletic Conference champion The College of New Jersey (March 26), losing 0-6, 0-6 at sixth singles and 0-8 in doubles…Collected a pair of wins against Bryn Athyn (March 31) with victories at sixth singles (6-0, 6-0) and doubles (8-2)…Dropped a close match at sixth singles (4-6, 1-6) against eventual NJAC runner-up New Jersey City University (April 7)…Earned doubles victories against both Arcadia (8-2, April 10) and Ramapo (8-1, April 21)…Lost a pair of close 6-8 doubles decisions in a tri-match against Elizabethtown and King’s (April 16).

Tennis Fall 2021: Member of the Rutgers-Camden team which posted an 8-0 record during the fall semester…Played in only one singles match and was forced to withdraw during competition at the Goucher College Invitational (Oct. 9), while losing 0-6, 0-2.
 
Tennis Spring 2021: Posted a 2-4 record in singles (1-4 at fourth singles and 1-0 at fifth singles) and a 0-5 mark at third doubles, teaming with Erica Steer…Made her tennis debut against New Jersey City (March 27), when she won at fifth singles (6-1, 6-3)…Played fourth singles the rest of the season, including her first match at both fourth singles (a 1-6, 0-6 loss) and third doubles (losing, 4-8) at Ramapo on April 10…Dropped a tough 3-6, 6-4, 6-10 decision in singles and a 6-8 decision in doubles against Kean (April 17)…Swept her singles match at William Paterson (6-0, 6-0) on April 20…Was leading in her New Jersey Athletic Conference quarterfinal match against New Jersey City (May 1) when the Scarlet Raptors clinched the post-season victory, so the match went unfinished with Cabrera ahead, 6-0, 4-2.
 
Lacrosse 2019: Played in three games for the Scarlet Raptors during her freshman season…Made her debut against Penn State-Abington (March 14)…Also played against SUNY-Purchase (March 15) and Montclair State (April 13).
 
High School: Captured two varsity letters in tennis at Cherry Hill High School West…Graduated in 2018.
 
Personal: Born June 19, 2000…Enjoys dancing/teach salsa and bachata…Biology major at Rutgers-Camden with a Chemistry minor…Plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in medicine…Alyna is the daughter of Myrtelina Cabrera of Cherry Hill.
