Bella Martinez became a valuable member of the women’s tennis program during her first year at Rutgers University-Camden, posting an overall mark of 8-10 in singles and 9-8 in doubles. She played everywhere from third to fifth singles and at all three doubles positions, mainly at the third spot. She added a 4-1 mark in doubles during the 2024 fall semester, while continuing her outstanding work in the classroom.
Overall, Martinez owns a 21-19 record during her three semesters playing for the women’s tennis program.

Tennis Fall 2024: Posted a 4-1 record in doubles, going 0-1 at first doubles (with Katie Moore), 3-0 at second doubles (2-0 with Jayde Sue Silva and 1-0 with Jilliane Jaugan) and 1-0 at third doubles (with Emma D’Amico)…Earned a 6-4 win over Wilkes at second doubles with Jaugan (Oct. 5)…Dropped a 6-2 decision at first doubles with Moore against Stockton (Oct. 11)…Posted a 6-4 win with D’Amico at third doubles against York (Oct. 12)…Recorded a pair of wins at second doubles with Silva, beating Lehman, 7-6 (7-3) on Oct. 14 and Eastern, 6-3, on Oct. 19.
Tennis Spring 2024: Went 6-8 in singles during the spring and was leading, 4-2, in a match that went unfinished against SUNY-Oneonta (April 19)…Went 9-6 during 15 doubles matches in the spring…Played her first four singles matches at the third spot, going 1-3, with the win coming at Cedar Crest College (March 29, 6-1, 6-1), one of the losses coming against 35th-ranked The College of New Jersey (March 24, 1-6, 0-6) and two losses coming in three sets against Eastern (March 22, 7-5, 2-6, 5-10) and Arcadia (March 30 (6-4, 4-6, 0-6)…Posted an 8-0 win at Bryn Athyn (April 1) in fourth singles and won back-to-back fifth singles matches against Kean (April 5, 6-1, 6-1) and Notre Dame (6-0, 6-0)…Dropped a pair of matches on April 7, losing in fifth singles against Elizabethtown (1-2, retired) and at fourth singles against King’s College (6-3, 2-6, 3-10)…Played fifth singles the rest of the spring, beginning with a 6-2, 6-4 win at Neumann (April 12) and a 0-6, 2-6 loss at Stockton (April 13)…Posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over William Paterson (April 17) and lost against Ramapo when she was forced to retire with the lead (April 20, 5-2, retired)…dropped a conference playoff match at TCNJ (April 24, 0-6, 0-6)…During doubles competition, went 2-2 at second doubles and 7-4 at third doubles, all teaming with Jayde Sue Silva, including a pair of 0-8 second doubles losses against nationally-ranked TCNJ…Wins at second doubles include an 8-7 (7-4) victory at King’s College and an 8-1 win over William Paterson…Posted 8-0 victories in third doubles against Bryn Athyn and Notre Dame…Also had an 8-1 conference victory against Kean.
Tennis Fall 2023: Posted a 2-2 record in singles and an 0-2 doubles mark during the abbreviated fall semester…Made her debut at Penn State-Brandywine on Sept. 17, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory at third singles and a close 6-8 loss at first doubles with Katie Moore…Lost at first doubles by walkover due to an injury at Bryn Mawr (Sept. 22)…In the Goucher Invitational (Oct. 8), played in the C flight singles competition, losing a pair of matches by 1-4, 0-4 scores against Sweet Briar and Dickinson and posting a 4-3 (7-3), 4-2 win against Stevenson.
