One of the top scholastic tennis players to come out of South Jersey, Victoria “Tori” Nugent joined the Rutgers University-Camden women’s tennis coaching staff during the 2021 spring season. She added to her duties during the 2021-22 scholastic year when she also served as an assistant coach with the men's program. She returns to both programs for the 2022-23 scholastic year.
A 2016 graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School, Nugent was a four-year varsity tennis letterwinner, capturing All-Conference First Team honors every year. A First Team All-State player, she helped the Eagles capture four straight South Jersey Group 1 titles, win the Group 1 state championship in 2012 and finish as the state runner-up from 2013-2015. She also earned the Tri-County championship in 2014 and 2015 and captured honors as the Salem County/Cumberland County Player of the Year (2013) and as the Tri-County Player of the Year (2014). She holds the Pennsville school record of 101 victories, becoming the first player in program history to reach the century mark in wins.
During her scholastic days at Pennsville, Nugent also was a three-year varsity softball letterwinner, collecting 100 hits in her career.
Following her stellar scholastic career, Nugent played one year of tennis at Monmouth University, leading the team in singles victories while playing in the second singles spot and also playing first doubles. She played for Rowan College at Gloucester County during her sophomore year, helping the Roadrunners post an undefeated regular season and finish as the NJCAA Division III national runner-up. She also earned a varsity letter in both soccer and with the women’s track and field team at RCGC. Nugent also played one year of tennis at Rowan University, where she is currently attending with a major in Exercise Science. She holds a Personal Training and Nutrition certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Nugent served as a tennis professional at the Arrowhead Tennis Club from January to December of 2020. She previously worked at the Riverwinds Golf and Tennis Club (April 2016-August 2018).
