Biography

A two-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Singles player, Sarah Ahrens has been the Scarlet Raptors' top singles and doubles player ever since transferring to Rutgers-Camden from Camden County College.
 
In her two years with the Scarlet Raptors, she has posted a 24-12 mark in singles and a 25-10 doubles record for an overall 49-22 record, all while playing at the top singles and doubles positions. Her 24 singles wins rank seventh on the program’s career list, while her 25 doubles victories rank sixth. Overall, she is tied for fifth in career wins with 49.
 
Academics: PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Women’s Tennis Team for the 2022-23 scholastic year…New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholastic years…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2021 Fall, 2022 Spring, 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring semesters…One of only 26 athletes on the 142-member 2021 Fall AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA…One of only 26 athletes on the 119-member 2022 Spring AD Honor Roll to earn a 4.0 GPA…One of only 25 athletes on the 133-member 2022 Fall AD Honor Roll to post a 4.0 GPA…One of only 21 athletes on the 106-member 2023 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Tennis Spring 2023: Named All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Singles…NJAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on April 17…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on April 17…Posted an 8-2 record at first singles to finish the 2022-23 scholastic year with a 12-3 singles record…Her 12 singles victories in both of her first two years at Rutgers-Camden are tied for the fourth-highest single-season program total for singles wins…Won her last seven singles decisions of the season, starting with a comeback win over Arcadia (April 10), 3-6, 6-1, 6-1…Earned two-set wins over Stockton (April 15, 6-2, 6-1). 6-0, 6-0 sweeps over Elizabethtown and King’s (both on April 16) and William Paterson (April 19), a 6-2, 6-2 victory at Ramapo (April 21) and a 6-1, 6-0 win against Kean (April 22)…Notched a 7-5 spring mark at first doubles, combining with Laurel DiStefano in each match…Finished the scholastic year with a 10-7 doubles mark to tie for the program’s ninth-highest single-season win total for doubles, five behind the mark she set during the 2021-22 campaign…Earned doubles wins with DiStefano against Bryn Athyn (8-1, March 31), Arcadia (8-4, April 10), Elizabethtown (8-1, April 16), King’s (8-2, April 16), William Paterson (8-0, April 19), Ramapo (8-4, April 21) and Kean (8-1, April 22).
 
Tennis Fall 2022: Posted a 4-1 record at first singles…Went 3-2 at first doubles (2-1 with Katie Moore and 1-1 with Samantha Hoban)…Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Oct. 10…Posted straight-set wins in her first four singles matches at Goucher (6-0, 6-3, Sept. 10), against Bryn Mawr (6-4, 6-4, Sept. 17), against Cabrini (6-1, 6-1, Oct. 7) and at Moravian (6-4, 6-3, Oct. 8)…Lost a narrow decision against York on Oct. 15 (4-6, 7-5, 8-10)…In doubles, split her first two matches with Moore as a partner, winning 8-5 against Goucher and losing, 5-8, against Bryn Mawr…Posted an 8-0 win with Hoban against Cabrini and a 4-8 loss with Hoban against Moravian…In her last doubles match of the fall semester, teamed with Moore for an 8-6 win over York.
 
Tennis Spring 2022: Named All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Singles…NJAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on March 28…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on March 21…Completed her first full year with a 12-9 singles record and a 15-3 mark in doubles, playing at the top spot in every match except one doubles match at the second flight during the fall semester…Her 15 doubles victories set a single-season program record…Her 14 doubles wins with partner Tiffany Trivers tied a single-season program mark for most wins with the same doubles partner…Overall, her 27 wins tied a single-season record set by Amanda Hickman during the 2012-13 scholastic year…Won her first three singles matches against Eastern (March 11, 6-1, 6-1), Bryn Athyn (March 19, 6-0, 6-0) and William Paterson (March 26, 6-0, 6-0) before losing against nationally-ranked The College of New Jersey (April 2, 2-6, 2-6) and Ursinus (April 8, 6-7, 6-7)…Earned wins over Stockton (April 9, 6-3, 6-3) and Ramapo (April 15, 6-0, 6-1)…Dropped a match against New Jersey City’s top player (April 21, 1-6, 2-6) and earned a win at Kean (April 23, 6-1, 6-1)…Lost in the NJAC semifinals at The College of New Jersey (April 27, 0-6, 0-6)…In doubles play, teamed with Tiffany Trivers for all but one match, playing at the top spot all spring and posting a 7-3 record, with the only losses coming against NJAC champion TCNJ (twice) and NJAC runner-up NJCU…Lone doubles win without Trivers came while teaming with Samantha Hoban for an 8-0 victory against Bryn Athyn.
 
Tennis Fall 2021: Played at the top singles spot in every match, posting a 5-3 dual record and a 1-2 tournament mark for an overall 6-5 record…Teamed with Tiffany Trivers in doubles, playing at the top spot in every match except for the first one, when the duo played second doubles, winning 8-3 at FDU-Florham (Sept. 4)…Posted an 8-0 record in doubles, placing them tied for 12th among single-season doubles victories with another semester still to play for completing the season…Their eight doubles wins with the same partner ranks fourth among single-season records entering the spring semester…In singles play, lost her first Raptor match at FDU-Florham, 6-3, 1-6, 8-10 before posting her first victory with an 8-0 win at Immaculata (Sept. 5)…Also notched an 8-0 doubles win in the Immaculata match…In the Sept. 12 match against Goucher College, lost a 4-6, 3-6 singles match and teamed with Trivers for an 8-6 doubles win, the closest doubles match they played all semester…Earned wins at singles (6-1, 6-0) and doubles (8-3) against Moravian (Sept. 18), one of five matches during the semester where she earned both singles and doubles wins…In addition to the Immaculata match, also swept singles and doubles at Bryn Mawr (Sept. 25, 6-2, 6-2 in singles and 8-0 in doubles), against Drew (Sept. 26, 6-2, 4-6, 10-1 in singles and 8-3 in doubles) and against Cedar Crest (Oct. 16, 6-0, 6-0 in singles and 8-0 in doubles)…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Sept. 27…Posted a 1-2 record in the A singles competition at the Goucher College Invitational (Oct. 9-10) in three tight matches, including a first-round win (4-6, 6-0, 10-2) and losses in rounds two (6-1, 0-6, 9-11) and three (5-8).

High School: Four-year varsity tennis letterwinner at Triton Regional High School…Also earned one varsity lacrosse letter…All-South Jersey Singles honor during her junior year…Louis F. Cappelli Scholar Athlete Award as a senior…First Team All-Conference and All-Group 2 singles all four years of high school…Top 5% of her senior class…Honor Roll and Principals’ List…National Honor Society member…Graduated in 2020.
 
Personal: Born April 17, 2002…Enjoys teaching kids tennis at her work, spending time outside, watching movies and being with friends and family…Childhood Studies major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to obtain her Master’s Degree in education and become an elementary school teacher…Sarah is the daughter of Tara and William Ahrens of Glendora.
