Biography

A transfer who scored 1,201 points while playing three seasons at Cairn University, Taylor Hinson joined the Rutgers-Camden women’s basketball program during the 2024-25 season. She completed her combined career with 1,306 points.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2025 Spring semester.
 
Basketball 2024-25: Played in all 25 games, starting two…Finished fourth on the team in rebounding (4.0 rpg)…Averaged 4.2 points…Added four assists and 13 steals…Second on the team with seven blocked shots…Shot 43-for-124 (.347) from the floor and 19-for-35 (.543) from the foul line…Had 105 points and 101 rebounds…Scored in double figures on four occasions, including a high of 21 points against New Jersey City (Jan. 15) when she shot 9-for-11 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the foul line…Had a trio of 10-point games, coming against Valley Forge (Nov. 12), Cairn (Nov. 15) and Stockton (Jan. 8)…In the Cairn game, her first start at Rutgers-Camden, she completed her lone double-double of the season with 10 rebounds, while also adding her high of five steals…Made her Scarlet Raptor debut against Penn State-Lehigh (Nov. 9), collecting nine rebounds, two steals and two points…Notched eight points and seven rebounds against The College of New Jersey (Feb. 5).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Three-year letterwinner for the Cairn University Highlanders, scoring 1,201 points and averaging 16.5 points per game…Two-time All-Colonial States Athletic Conference Second Team…Played in 73 career games, starting 55…Shot .424 (472-for-1,114) from the floor and .679 (252-for-371) from the foul line…Grabbed 696 rebounds, averaging 9.5 per game…Added 73 assists, 74 blocks and 130 steals…During her sophomore season of 2022-23, averaged 21.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game…Finished ninth in Division III in points per game, 22nd in Division III in defensive rebounds per game (8.0), 33rd in Division III in rebounds per game and her 14 double-doubles were tied for the 25th-highest total in Division III…As a junior in 2023-24, averaged 18.1 points and 9.4 rebounds…Her 24 rebounds against Cedar Crest on January 14, 2023 were the highest single-game total in the conference that season.
 
High School: Multi-talented athlete who was a four-year varsity member of the volleyball, basketball and track and field programs at Collingswood High School…Played for Coaches Nancy O’Neill and Tara Deshayes…In basketball was an All-Conference First Team selection and a Coach “C” Award recipient…Earned a varsity letter and varsity pin…In volleyball, averaged six kills per match as a senior…Earned a varsity letter and pin…Earned a varsity pin in track and field…Inducted into the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society in 2020…Graduated in 2021.

Personal:  Born July 14, 2003…Hobbies and interests include shopping, cooking, sleeping and spending time with family and friends…Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to become a sports psychologist or a school psychologist…Her mother Kamilah (Byrd) Hinson and uncle Cetshwayo Byrd are members of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Hall of Fame…Taylor is the daughter of Kamilah and Robert Hinson of Carneys Point.
