Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Asha Pensa Johnson earned her first collegiate letter with the Rutgers-Camden women’s volleyball program during the 2025 fall season. A multi-talented athlete, she will continue her collegiate career with the indoor and outdoor track teams as a freshman.
 
Volleyball 2025: Played in all 30 Rutgers-Camden matches, appearing in 119 of the team’s 121 sets…Led the team with 279 kills and 2.34 kills per set…Finished third on the Scarlet Raptors with 55 blocks (14 solo and 41 assisted) and 0.46 blocks per set…Added 75 digs and five assists…Made her collegiate debut against Eastern (Aug. 29), notching three kills, three block assists and two digs…Collectd double—digit kills on 11 occasions, including her first time against Widener (Sept. 3), when she had 11 kills in a four-set match…Had her high of 21 kills in a five-set match at Gwynedd Mercy (Oct. 9) and notched 20 kills in a five-set match at Rutgers-Newark (Sept. 30)…Also had 19 kills in a five-set match at Washington College (Sept. 20)…Hit .889 (eight kills, no errors in nine chances) against Medgar Evers (Nov. 2) and .615 (17-1-26) against Ursinus (Sept. 25)…Had her highs of six digs in the Washington College match and in a five-set match against Immaculata (Oct. 4), when she added 15 kills…Collected her high of seven blocks (two solo, five assisted) at Alvernia (Oct. 4)…Had four blocks on three occasions, coming against New Jersey City (Oct. 14), William Paterson (Oct. 21) and St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn (Nov. 2).
 
High School: Three-year varsity volleyball letterwinner at Hampton Bays High School for Coach Andy Fotopolous…Named Player of the Year in League VI…Two-time Top 50…All-State…All-County Tournament Team three times…All-Classification…Three-time All-County…Graduated in 2025.

Personal: Born June 7, 2007…First name pronounced “Ah-sh-uh”…Is a volunteer junior EMT at her local agency…Loves to play beach volleyball and discover new fun places to go on Long Island…Pre-Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to become a nurse and move to the Big Island of Hawaii…Asha is the daughter of Carla Pensa and Darryl Johnson of Hampton Bays, New York.
