Biography

Myiah Gatling has produced two stellar volleyball seasons at Rutgers-Camden after spending her first collegiate season at Kean University in 2015. Named the team’s Most Dedicated Athlete for the 2017 season, she became the eighth player in program history to collect over 100 career blocks. Gatling enters her senior season tied for seventh on the program’s all-time list with Sydney Allen (2012-15), both with 126 blocks apiece.
 
A member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2017 Spring semester, Gatling joined the 2016-17 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) before serving as the SAAC Co-Chair during the 2017-18 scholastic year.
 
In her two-year Rutgers-Camden volleyball career, Gatling has played in 224 sets over 65 matches. She owns 338 kills, in addition to her 126 blocks.

Gatling will serve as one of the Scarlet Raptors' four captains this season.

Volleyball 2017: Played in all 33 matches and 116 sets, serving as a team captain…Named the team’s Most Dedicated Athlete…Her 33 matches tied the program record held by many players, while her 116 sets are tied for ninth on the single-season charts…Led the Scarlet Raptors with 67 blocks (15 solo, 52 assisted)…Finished fifth on the team with 162 kills…Her .249 hitting percentage is the ninth-best single-season mark among regulars…Added 10 assists, 26 service aces and 59 digs…Collected five blocks against both Widener University (Sept. 15, one solo, four assisted) and Albright College (Sept. 30, 2-3)…Had four blocks on three occasions (all one solo and three assisted), coming against Misericordia University (Sept. 7), Catholic University (Sept. 16) and William Paterson University (Sept. 21)…Notched double-digit kills in three matches, including 11 apiece against Albright College (Sept. 30) and Marywood University (Oct. 21) and 10 against Wesley College (Sept. 23)…Had three service aces against Medgar Evers College (Oct. 5), Brooklyn College (Oct. 14) and Stockton University (Oct. 31)…Had a high of seven digs against Haverford College (Sept. 15).

Volleyball 2016: Played in all 32 matches and appeared in 108 of the Raptors’ 110 sets…Fourth on the team with 176 kills (1.63 per set)…Led the team with 59 blocks, including a team-high 44 assisted blocks…Added 24 digs and five assists…Tied for the team lead with a .248 hitting percentage, tied for the seventh-highest single-season mark in program history…Named to the All-Tournament Team at Neumann University’s Knights Invitational (Sept. 16-17)…Collected double-digit kills in three matches, including 13 against Kean (Oct. 18), 12 against Penn State-Abington (Sept. 8) and 10 against New Jersey City (Sept. 13)…Had a .688 hitting percentage in the Kean match (13 kills, two errors in 16 attempts), the third-highest single-match mark in program history for any player with 12 or more kills…Collected four assisted blocks on four occasions, including her first Rutgers-Camden match against Baruch College (Sept. 2)…Notched a high of five blocks (two solo, three assisted) against Penn State Abington (Sept. 8).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played volleyball at Kean University in 2015 … Played in 68 sets over 25 matches… Compiled 53 kills, 30 blocks, two service aces, and 11 digs as a freshman... Notched her match-high total of seven blocks against Rutgers-Camden (Oct. 27).
 
High School: Three-year varsity letterwinner for Volleyball Coach Margaret Goodman at Kingsway Regional High School…Captured All-Conference First Team honors during both her junior and senior seasons…Team MVP as a senior…National Honor Society.
