Women’s basketball co-captain Cara Racobaldo opened her junior season with a bang as she captured tourney MVP honors while helping the Scarlet Raptors win the Jim Crawley Tournament at Frostburg State University. In the season-opening win against Pitt-Bradford in the tournament semifinals Friday night, Racobaldo notched five points, nine rebounds, one steal and a game-high seven assists as her warmup act to a sensational championship game against Frostburg State on Saturday. Racobaldo netted a career-high 30 points in that game, passing her previous high of 21 set against The College of New Jersey Nov. 24, 2015. She added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. She shot 10-for-18 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the foul line on her way to all-tournament team MVP honors.
