Junior forward Cameron Downs averaged 19.0 points and nine rebounds over three games last week for the Rutgers-Camden men’s basketball team, which tied a program record with a 5-0 start before losing its first game at Swarthmore on Saturday. Downs had his season high of 24 points in a win over Alvernia on Nov. 19 and collected his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 boards in a win at Hunter on Nov. 21. In the Swarthmore game he scored 17 points, while adding seven rebounds, two steals and one block. For the season, he leads the team in scoring (18.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg), while tying for the lead in blocks (5) and placing second in assists (17). His early-season output has raised his career scoring total to 905 points as he bids to become the 15th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
