Junior forward Mike Ryan had another history-making performance as he helped the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team reach the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship game last week. With two goals and one assist in his two games, Ryan became the program’s all-time scoring leader with 119 points, passing the mark of 118 set last season by senior Mitch Grotti. During a 3-1 semifinal victory over Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday, Ryan scored a pair of goals in a 13-minute span in the second half, lifting the Scarlet Raptors from a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 lead. Those goals allowed him to tie Grotti’s career point total. On Friday night, he assisted on the Scarlet Raptors’ lone goal, scored by Giuseppe DeLuca, in a 3-1 loss to Montclair State in the championship game. It was the record-setting 119th point of his career. Ryan, who also earned his third straight NJAC First Team honor last week, has been Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week three times this season. He also earned the award on Sept. 8 and Oct. 20.
