The Scarlet Raptors improve to 22-9-1, while the Nittany Lions fall to 17-15.

For the first time in its baseball history, Rutgers-Camden exploded for a pair of innings with double-digit runs. The Raptors notched 10 runs in the fourth inning before tying the program record with an 11-run seventh inning. It was the third 11-run inning in program history, including an 11-run first inning against John Jay College on April 2, 2013. The first 11-run frame came in the first inning against Philadelphia Pharmacy on May 16, 1958.

Those two big innings helped produce 24 runs, tying for the second-highest output in program history. The team also scored 24 runs against Trenton State in 1996 and Philadelphia Pharmacy in 1959. The all-time program record for runs came in a 26-3 victory over Widener University on March 26, 1996.

Leading the offensive outburst was freshman leftfielder
Alex Scarlett

Freshman third baseman Joe Brooks (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) went 3-for-4 with one run and three RBIs in the contest, including a two-run double in the fourth inning.

Sophomore second baseman Joe Sigismondi (Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) went 3-for-6 with three runs and one RBI.

Freshman shortstop Tim Holder (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI, while junior first baseman Adam Bartholomew (Haddon Heights, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) had a 2-for-4 game with one run scored.

While the Raptor bats were tearing up the Brandywine pitching staff, Rutgers-Camden sophomore John Waters (Galloway, NJ/Absegami), freshman Jay Gorman (Sewell, NJ/Clearview Regional) and sophomore Alex Scarlett (Galloway, NJ/Holy Spirit) were limiting the Nittany Lions to three runs. Waters worked the first three shutout innings, allowing four hits and three walks, while striking out four. Gorman worked the next three innings to earn his first collegiate win, allowing five hits one walk and three earned runs. He struck out two. Scarlett finished up with three shutout innings of two-hit ball, walking one.

The Scarlet Raptors play a 3:30 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game at Rutgers-Newark Thursday.
