Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Florida – The Rutgers-Camden baseball team has been playing some tight games against some of the top teams in the country at the RussMatt Florida Central Invitational.
Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raptors, they haven't been getting the results to prove it. Rutgers-Camden was swept in a doubleheader here Friday by Trinity College, 2-0 in nine innings and 4-0 in seven. The Scarlet Raptors drop to 2-7 with their seventh consecutive loss.

Rutgers-Camden concludes its spring break trip Saturday at 10 a.m., facing the nation's top-ranked team, defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The Bantams scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to spoil a tremendous pitching effort by Raptor senior southpaw
Jeff Singer (Cinnaminson, NJ/Holy Cross), who hurled a four-hitter with four walks and nine strikeouts.
The game's lone runs came on a two-run double by freshman left fielder
Brendan Pierce (Hingham, MA/Dexter School) after a pair of two-out walks. Pierce had two of the four hits off Singer in the game.
Rutgers-Camden, meanwhile, managed only three hits off a pair of Trinity pitchers. Senior
Sean Meekins (Rockville Centre, NY/Xavier) worked the first 7.2 innings, allowing two hits and three walks, while striking out six Junior
Sam Jordan (Sherborn, MA/Dover-Sherborn) worked the final 1.1 innings, allowing one hit. He struck out one while collecting his first decision of the season.

Frank Cerami IV (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had two of the three Raptor hits. The other hit was a double by junior third baseman

The Scarlet Raptors were blanked for the second straight game by the Bantams, collecting only four hits. Two of them were singles by senior center fielder
Bobby Romano (Vineland, NJ/Vineland). Rutgers-Camden has now scored a combined six runs over its last five games, with two runs apiece in the three games before facing Trinity.
The Raptors' tough-luck losing pitcher in the nightcap was junior
Billy Jackson (Estell Manor, NJ/Buena), who hurled a six-inning complete game, allowing seven hits, two walks and four runs, three of them earned. Jackson (1-1) struck out four).
Freshman designated hitter
Matthew Toth (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) went 2-for-4 with one run for the Bantams, while senior second baseman
Connor Sullivan (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) had a two-run double in the fifth inning to cap the scoring.

Chris Speer (Westport, CT/Staples) worked six innings of two-hit ball to raise his record to 2-0.
