Melanie Kaiser (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) and
Caitlin Marchlowitz (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) combined to move up a rung on three career lists as the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team defeated Misericordia University, 3-1, here Thursday night.
Rutgers-Camden won by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 24-26 and 25-22 to raise its record to 12-11. Misericordia falls to 6-15 with its 10th straight loss.
Homecoming week
With 13 digs, Marchlowitz raised her career total to 966, moving into fourth place on the program's all-time list by passing Rebecca Brown, who had 956 digs from 2010-12. Marchlowitz also had four aces to move into an eighth-place tie with Stephanie Miller (2009-12) on the career list with 123.
After playing all four sets, Kaiser raised her career total to 376 sets, taking over fifth place from Miller, who finished with 374. Kaiser had 13 digs to tie Marchlowitz for the team-high total.
Wilkerson, meanwhile, raised her career kills to 505, 11 shy of sixth-place Brown. Wilkerson also added 11 digs in the match.
The Scarlet Raptors also received eight kills from sophomore
Myiah Gatling (Woolwich Township, NJ/Kingsway Regional), while a trio of players had seven kills apiece: freshman sisters
Morgan Mulligan and
Jamie Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ/Pinelands Regional) and freshman
Jordan Erskine (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat). Morgan Mulligan also added two aces.
Freshman
Caitlynn Marcano (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) led the Scarlet Raptors with 22 assists.
The Scarlet Raptors are idle until Tuesday, when they play eight-time defending New Jersey Athletic Conference champion Stockton University in a 7 p.m. road match.
