JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Sept. 13, 2016) – After winning three matches in three days from Thursday through Saturday, the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team was looking to continue its winning ways here Tuesday in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener.
The Scarlet Raptors accomplished their goal.
Rutgers-Camden collected 49 kills, including 15 by freshman
Morgan Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ/Pinelands Regional), as it defeated New Jersey City University, 3-1. The Raptors won by set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-21.
Rutgers-Camden improves to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC with its fourth straight victory. NJCU falls to 3-2 and 0-1.

Myiah Gatling (Woolwich Township, NJ/Kingsway Regional) notched 10 kills, while freshmen
Jamie Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ/Pinelands Regional) and
Jassmine Watson (Penns Grove, NJ/Clearview Regional) had six kills apiece and freshman
Jordan Erskine (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) added five.
Watson added four blocks (three assisted) and Gatling had three (two solo), while
Morgan Mulligan hit .406.
Sophomore setter
Kim Bryfogle (Collingswood, NJ/Paul VI) had 19 assists to lead the Raptors, while adding four digs, and freshman
Caitlynn Marcano (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) had 17 assists and two aces. Senior co-captain
Melanie Kaiser (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling), who was named the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, notched 14 digs and four aces. Junior
Erin Thompson (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) added 13 digs and two aces.

Caitlin Marchlowitz (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) notched eight digs and three service aces, while adding two assists, one kill and one assisted block.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action this weekend at Neumann University's Knights Fall Classic. The Scarlet Raptors play both Swarthmore College (4 p.m.) and Catholic University of America (6 p.m.) on Friday and face Baruch College and Widener University Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
