Box Score

WAYNE, N.J. (Sept. 22, 2016) – Rutgers University-Camden junior Cortnee Wilkerson (Los Angeles, CA/West Adams Prep) collected 12 kills, including five in the first set to set the tone for the night and lead the Scarlet Raptors to a three-set sweep over host William Paterson University in New Jersey Athletic Conference volleyball action here Thursday night.

Rutgers-Camden improves to 7-8 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC, while William Paterson falls to 7-4 and 0-3.

The Scarlet Raptors won by scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-17.

Wilkerson's 12 kills broke a tie for eighth place on the all-time Rutgers-Camden program list and moved her alone into eighth place. She passed Joy Silver, who had 428 kills during the 2002-2003 seasons. Wilkerson now owns 440 kills in her Scarlet Raptor career, 48 shy of tying seventh-place Sydney Allen (2012-15).

The Scarlet Raptors also received eight assists from freshman Caitlynn Marcano (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and six from freshman Meghan Gallagher (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) in the opening set. They finished the night with 22 and 16 assists, respectively. Marcano also had three aces.

In addition to Wilkerson's kills, freshman Jamie Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ/Pinelands Regional) notched 10 kills, while
sophomore Myiah Gatling (Woolwich Township, NJ/Kingsway Regional) and freshman Jordan Erskine (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) had eight apiece.

Senior Melanie Kaiser (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) had a team-high 22 assists and added two aces. Freshman Natalie DiGiacomo (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) also notched two aces.

Gatling had one solo block and two assisted blocks, while both Wilkerson and freshman Morgan Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ/Pinelands Regional) had three block assists apiece.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday when they host a tri-match with Penn State-Brandywine and Wilkes University. The Raptors play Brandywine at 11 a.m. and Wilkes at 3 p.m. PSU-Brandywine and Wilkes will play the middle match at 1 p.m.
