Rutgers-Camden sweeps tri-match to raise record to 9-8

CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 24, 2016) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team extended its unbeaten streak to three matches as it swept a tri-match, 3-0 and 3-0, against Penn-State Brandywine and Wilkes University here Saturday.
 
In the other match of the day, Wilkes University (8-7) swept Penn State-Brandywine (10-4) by scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-19.
 
The Scarlet Raptors (9-8) return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a New Jersey Athletic Conference battle, hosting Montclair State University.

The Raptors defeated the Nittany Lions by scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-21 as freshman Jordan Erskine (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) collected eight kills and compiled a .421 hitting percentage. Senior Caitlin Marchlowitz (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had seven kills and hit .462, while junior Cortnee Wilkerson (Los Angeles, CA/West Adams Prep) also had seven kills. Freshmen sisters Jamie Mulligan and Morgan Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ/Pinelands Regional) both added five kills for the Raptors.
 
Freshman Caitlynn Marcano (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) notched 19 assists. Marcano added three service aces, while freshman Meghan Gallagher (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) collected 10 assists and added a service ace.
 
Senior Melanie Kaiser (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) collected 11 digs for the Scarlet Raptors, while Marchlowitz also added 11. Freshman Natalie DiGiacomo (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) added seven digs in the victory.

Rutgers-Camden completed its big day with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 sweep over the Colonels. Wilkerson and Erskine collected nine kills apiece, while Marchlowitz and sophomore Myiah Gatling (Woolwich Township, NJ/Kingsway Regional) both added six.
 
The Raptors received 16 assists from Marcano and 13 from Gallagher, while DiGiacomo notched two service aces and 10 digs. Marchlowitz and Kaiser added 12 digs apiece.
 
Erskine finished with six blocks (one solo, five assists) and Gatling notched four block assists.
