Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 18, 2017) – Year in and year out, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team is one of the top programs nationally in Division III.

There's no difference this season, with the Warhawks ranked No. 6 nationally in the latest D3baseball.com Top 25 poll and No. 7 in the last ABCA national poll. Wisconsin-Whitewater raised its early-season record to 6-1 here Saturday morning as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 7-2, in the Scarlet Raptors' final game at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

The Scarlet Raptors finished their stellar trip to Florida with a 6-3 record in nine games against some of the best teams in the country. They return home with a 7-5 record overall, heading into a 4 p.m. game at Susquehanna University Wednesday.

Whitewater scored all the runs it needed with three in the bottom of the first inning. Junior centerfielder Brett Krause (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) hit a two-run triple and scored on a throwing error. Krause went 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs to lead the Warhawks' 12-hit attack.

Wisconsin-Whitewater held a 4-0 lead before the Scarlet Raptors pushed across a run in the third inning on a triple by senior first baseman Frank Cerami IV (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) and an RBI single by freshman shortstop Nolan Gerold (Merchantville, NJ/Camden Catholic).

Down, 7-1, the Scarlet Raptors added their other run in the top of the eighth inning when freshman third baseman Matthew Stoots (Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton) hit a leadoff single, Cerami singled and Gerold was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sophomore centerfielder Peter Farlow (Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) delivered a sacrifice fly to plate Stoots.

Cerami and Farlow had two hits apiece to account for four of the Raptors' six hits against four Wisconsin-Whitewater pitchers. Both players went 2-for-3, with Cerami scoring once and Farlow collecting one RBI.
