GLASSBORO, N.J. (Sept. 19, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team won the first set, but host Rowan University came back to sweep the next three sets as the Profs captured a 3-1 victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Tuesday night.
Rowan (6-5 overall, 2-0 NJAC) won by scores of 24-26, 25-11, 25-12 and 25-21.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Scarlet Raptors, dropping their record to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Senior outside hitter
Cortnee Wilkerson (Los Angeles, CA/West Adams Prep) notched 11 kills, and three solo blocks to lead the Scarlet Raptors, while also adding 11 digs. By playing all four sets, Wilkerson hiked her career total to 355 sets, passing Sydney Allen (352 from 2012-15) to move into seventh place on the program's all-time list. She also moved into 10th place on the career digs list with 482, passing Brooke Hassan (478, 2013-15).
Freshman
Alyson Lowe (Havertown, PA/Haverford) and sophomore
Meghan Gallagher (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) paced the team with 14 and 12 assists, respectively. Lowe added seven digs.
Sophomore
Natalie DiGiacomo (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) had a team-high 14 digs and added five assists. She also had one of the Raptors' three service aces, with Lowe and Wilkerson also collecting one apiece.
Freshman
Ashley Newman (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) added 10 digs.
The Scarlet Raptors host William Paterson University Thursday in a 7 p.m. NJAC match, starting a three-day
Homecoming weekend at Rutgers-Camden.
