ABINGTON, Penn. (Oct. 4, 2018) – Earlier in the week, the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team celebrated when it climbed to No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III South Atlantic Regional rankings.

The Scarlet Raptors celebrated again here Thursday afternoon, knocking off red-hot Penn State-Abington, 2-0, in a non-conference game.

Rutgers-Camden improves to 9-3-1 overall with its sixth straight win. PSU-Abington, which entered the game with an eight-game winning streak, falls to 8-3.

Rutgers-Camden received second-half goals from sophomore Skyler Diggs and freshman Aba David, while riding the shutout goalkeeping of sophomore Kieran Burns.

After a scoreless first half, Diggs scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season 11:12 into the second half. He was assisted by junior Cristian Ognibene, pictured above, who notched his first point of the season.

The contest remained a one-goal game until David struck for his third goal of the season with 2:36 remaining.

Burns raised his record to 3-0 on the season and collected his first collegiate shutout, making six saves. Esteban Leon had five saves for Penn State-Abington.

Rutgers-Camden held a 15-9 advantage in shots, including a 9-3 margin in the second half. The Raptors also held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
