Balanced attack lifts Baruch past Rutgers-Camden men

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Dec. 29, 2018) – The Baruch College men's basketball team placed five players in double figures, led by 20 points from senior guard Bryler Paige, as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 96-54, in a non-conference game here Saturday afternoon.
 
Baruch, coming off a loss at Westfield State University Friday afternoon, improves to 8-3. Rutgers-Camden, which hadn't played since Dec. 15, falls to 1-12.
 
Baruch took a 38-29 halftime lead behind 16 points from Paige, who shot 6-for-8 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. He was 3-for-4 from three-point range.
 
Rutgers-Camden received nine first-half points from sophomore guard Terrance Harris, while senior guard Trai Greer added eight points.
 
The Bearcats opened up the game with a 58-25 run in the second half. In addition to 20 points from Paige, senior guard William Sixsmith netted 13 points for Baruch, while freshman guard Joseph Zecchino Jr. netted 12. Senior forward Andre Harris scored 11 points and junior forward Benjamin Boateng added 10.
 
Junior forward/center Asaph Charles notched eight rebounds and Boateng added seven for Baruch, which held a 50-21 advantage off the boards.
 
Rutgers-Camden received 15 points from Greer and 12 from Terrance Harris, while freshman guard Adam Perry added nine points and sophomore guard Ian McCarthy netted eight. Terrance Harris, pictured above, led the Scarlet Raptors with five rebounds, while McCarthy had a team-high four assists.
 
Baruch shot 32-for-58 (55.2 percent) from the floor, while Rutgers-Camden went 15-for-59 (25.4). The Raptors were 8-for-28 (28.6) from three-point range, compared to Baruch's 12-for-24 (50.0).
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to action in the new year when it travels to Rutgers University-Newark for an 8 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game on Saturday, Jan. 5.
