CAMDEN, NJ. (Sept. 4, 2018) – The Ursinus College women's volleyball team outlasted Rutgers University-Camden in three tight sets to sweep the Scarlet Raptors, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-20 in non-conference action here Tuesday night.
The match was the home opener for Rutgers-Camden, which fell to 1-4. Ursinus improved to 3-2.
Sophomore
Ashley Newman, pictured above, paced the Scarlet Raptors with 22 digs and tied freshman
Savannah Hayes for the team lead with two service aces apiece.
Freshmen
Kayla Benesz and
Brinn Hassan notched 14 and 12 assists, respectively, while junior
Jordan Erskine produced eight of the Raptors' 28 kills and hit .231. Junior
Jamie Mulligan added five kills and hit .211.
The Scarlet Raptors collected six block assists as a team, with Erskine and freshman
Devyn Cobb producing two apiece.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Thursday with a non-conference match at Delaware Valley University.
