MAHWAH, N.J. (Oct. 19, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team exploded for three goals in a 2:05-minute span early in the second half and went on to defeat Ramapo College, 3-1, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.
The Scarlet Raptors improved to 5-9 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC, while the Roadrunners fell to 4-8-1 and 0-5-1.
Ramapo scored the lone goal of the first half when Lauren Vladyka finished a feed from Kaitlyn Kelly at 33:55. It didn't take long after halftime for the Scarlet Raptors to even the score. Sophomore
Lauren Calabria knocked home the rebound of her own shot at 45:58, tying the game. It was her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The Scarlet Raptors took the lead only 1:01 later when a pair of freshmen,
Maggie Horn and
Lauren Bone, combined for the eventual game-winning goal. Bone assisted on Horn's second goal of the season at 46:59 as she collected her first collegiate assist.
Only 1:04 later, freshman
Amanda Giordano collected her first collegiate goal on a free kick, coming at 48:03.
Rutgers-Camden finished with a 15-8 advantage in shots, including four by sophomore
Olivia Echeverria, and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore goalie
Natalie Eberhardt made three saves to notch the win. Ramapo keeper Elizabeth Harvell had seven saves.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday with a non-conference game at Ursinus College, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
