CAMDEN, N.J. (March 4, 2021) – The defending New Jersey Athletic Conference champion Stockton University swept Rutgers University-Camden, 3-0, here Thursday night in the home volleyball opener for the Scarlet Raptors.
Stockton (2-0 overall and in the NJAC) won by scores of 25-8, 25-16 and 25-20.
After losing the first two sets, the Scarlet Raptors gave the Ospreys a tough battle in the third set, which featured eight tie scores, the last at 18-18 before Stockton completed the sweep.
Rutgers-Camden evens its record at 1-1 overall and in the NJAC heading into its next match, Tuesday at New Jersey City University (7 p.m.).
Stockton junior Haley Green and senior Christie Louer collected 10 kills apiece while hitting .500 and .412, respectively. Louer added five service aces.
Senior setter Emily Sullivan led the Ospreys with 34 kills, senior Sophia Marziello notched 12 digs and junior Caity Ullmer had four block assists.
Rutgers-Camden received six kills from junior
Devyn Cobb, who hit .385 (six kills, one error in 13 attacks). Freshmen
Isabella Choice and
Dyamond Free added six and five kills, respectively, while freshman
Erica Nebrich had four kills. Cobb and Free both added one solo block and one block assist.
Junior setter
Brinn Hassan notched 24 assists, while junior libero
Morgan Fox led the Raptors with five digs.
