CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 8, 2022) – The Kean University men's soccer team scored a goal in the 78th minute and that was all it took for the Cougars to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 1-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.
The loss was the first NJAC defeat of the season for the Scarlet Raptors, who fell to 3-1 in the conference. They are 6-6-3 overall.
Kean improves to 1-1-2 in the NJAC and 5-5-3 overall.
Rutgers-Camden had a strong start and held first-half advantages of 8-5 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks. The Raptors couldn't dent the net, however, and Kean finished strong with a 12-6 shots advantage after the break.
Junior midfielder Fanor Arango broke the deadlock at 77:14, taking a feed from junior midfielder Matt O'Shea to the left side of the box and sending a shot into the upper right corner.
Kean finished with a 17-14 advantage in shots, including 8-7 in shots on goal. The Scarlet Raptors had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. NJAC game at Rowan University.
